Selling my Stiletto, I have a Carvin Legacy III on the way, and just received a mini-rectifier. I play hardrock to metal to fusion. Looking for something different in my price range. Has to be a tube head under 60 watts. Going to use extra funds from the Stiletto sale to fund recording gear. Opinions/ideas/options?

First thing that popped into my head was a Peavey VTM. Maybe a Marshall DSL. The Marshall would be more versatile.

i'm still liking the Blackstar HT-5 for hot rod marshall tones on the cheap.

and i'm waiting for the Randall Diavlo to come out so i can get one of those too.

Save up another $100-150 and find a 60 watt Deliverance.

+1 I have a combo (1994) since new and it has served me well.....Great clean channel with a pull gain and clean channel takes pedals very well if you want to go that route. Plenty of gain on dirt channel for classic metal tones down to AC/DC ZZTop tones.....Santana type sustain for leads is sweet......Very underrated amp that can be had for about 500 bucks....Gigged with mine until just recently.......My .02

PS
If you try one I suggest dropping the bass pot to 0 and add with the EQ. I have found the amp to be much more focused that way and there is enough bottom end to roll it off..... Good Luck!!!!

If you can swing a little more for a EVH 50 watter used they are VERY nice. Had a VTM, it was ok. Another option that you can get for 2-350 is a used Crate Stealth..Lee Jackson design and very underrated..a decent clean, loop and 2 gains that are footswitchable so it acts like a 3 channel. Modded Marshall sound and takes a clean boost well..

If it's a Stiletto II you had I think its a better amp than anything mentioned so far.

Original 5150 and just pull 2 of the tubes? +1 on the .50 Caliber really great amps and build like tanks...

Carvin X100B (used), Peavey VTM (used), some of the Egnaters are really good sounding too. Just picked up a Rebel 20... it's probably going to end up being my go-to recording amp.

For that price I'd say an Orange Tiny Terror or something from Jet City.

I really dig the BadCat Cougar 50H I got. It was 600 new at MF. Can get more Marshall like tones with the gain low but gets thicker and smoother as you get up there. Strangely enough I got it as a counterpoint to my Stiletto, which I love. It's EQ is very flexible which makes it very dialable for higher gain levels.
