Such a dumb argument, and a stupid reason to buy or not buy gear
If gear goes up in value, drops in price by a little, or ends up selling for $10 after some years, I don't give a rats ass as long as it gave me pleasure along the way
Just pull the trigger man. Hell, if it's really not your cup of tea you can turn around and sell it nationally for about the same you paid for it; or post it over in EU craigslist ads and make a couple hun on it.

I just wrote a check to cover my daughter's college tuition for the spring semester (trying to be a good dad and pay out of pocket to get her through school and come out the other side with zero student loans and zero debt). Just waiting a couple of weeks for the sting to wear off
Gear is gear. I bought a bunch of JMP 2203 heads for in the early 80's for less than $500 ea all the time. Eventide 3000se+ cost me close to $3000, you couldn't get squat for it now, but it still has value in the tones they can create. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. My $3200 PRS SC is not going to get me anywhere near that price, but it's still worth it to me.
