Yea, so without any who's is better. I was just curious to know how they compare. Im LOVING my cali, but whats up with the BFG? Looks tasty also! Anyone own/played both?

Also wondering this myself. The BFG "AIC" mod has me interested...

I've owned both. I really, really dig my BFG mod that Brian did for me.

Been in rooms with every mod under the sun, from real Jose EVH mods to stupid gained out Camerons and it depended on who played them. There are tons of mods that have sprung up the past 2 years and many are the same platform.....................hmm even options and switches seem simular.........................

Talk to the builders and tell them what you want.

Talk to users of each amp, I know for Fortin you can speak with Killertone, MrDan666, Gainfreak, Chad, Carl Roa, Danyeo, LolzGreg, Linda; plenty of killer players to pick brains.

I love my Cali mod and Mike is one of the best people I have encountered in the industry. I put him in the same category as Tom Anderson. Each individual has made me feel like a valued customer and treated me like a pro (even though I am not).

The BFG clips I have heard sounded great. There are so many great mods out there but my experience lies with Fortin and I couldn't ask for anything more. I will say the dedicated clean channel on my Cali has given me all I need.

Never played a Cali but the BFG I have kicks ass. I'm workin with Brian now to do another amp.

This. Mike was a pleasure to deal with and my Cali was absolutely amazing. I unfortunately had to sell it for financial reasons, but I fully intend to have another amp done at some point in the future.

I'm with everybody else though, contact the builders, talk to them, and pick the one you feel most comfortable with and who you think will give you what you need

I will take Mike's years of experience, his vast years working on other's amps, and the way he builds them as he is a monster player so he knows what an amp should feel like.

I just took the Sally Struthers course in TV/VCR Repair...does that count?   Mike does great stuff and from his reputation his service is also tops....that said I have my fair share of experience and while I'm not a "monster player" I know how to make an amp respond. The best thing to do is as someone mentioned...talk to different guys and see if they do what you want.

Hell yes!!!! Get the tone you want and have your amp back in a couple weeks, not 6 months!!

BTW That Sally Struthers 240 watt rectifier she made it the 70's was incredible!!!!

2 weeks, Brian has done 2 amps for me, less than a week on each one

Here is what Ive learned about Mods and I guess this can be said about gear in general. You are always going to be curious about other mods/Modders and gear . It's the nature of the beast and since you already have a Cali mod, If you are digging what you hear with the BFG's, id say check them out if you are inclined to do so. Ive seen guys go through the Cameron stuff then sell it to check out Dave Friedmans stuff then sell that to check out Mikes stuff and Etc etc. and so on!! Only the guys with long dollar can keep them all and compare hahahhaa!!

I guess what I'm saying is that No matter what anyone says, I don't think it's going to cure your curiosity lol.

As far as Comparing, Both Modders have multiple Mods so you would need a referance in order to compare.

I liked the mod that was done for gbsmusic. I have never played a BFG but being that I own a Cali and based off of the clip that was posted of gbsmusic's amp, Id say that the midrange of the BFG and Cali are totally different. That's what I got from the clip

Hope this helps!

And all that will change when Brian gets more work. Trust me. Happens to everyone and I wish him all the success ;)
