I posted this in the Suhr forum, thought i might get a faster response here.
.....................

Ok so ive seen all the threads in here about the BFTS (still deciding if i should add it), but i had some questions about it and some others in general.

1. If i use it Live and the other guitar player has a Non-BFTS guitar will it sound out of tune? Same with the bass?
2. Will it sound out of tune for recording with mixed BFTS and Non-BFTS?

For pickups:
1. I was going to do a SSV in Neck, Fl middle, and SSH+ in Bridge, but was thinking the SSV might sound to weak for my style (Fusion, Rock, etc.) . I use the neck pickup most of the time for leads. But i do want a pickup that will sound great clean for jazz/country/blues also. So should i go with a SSV+? or something else? I just dont want the neck pickup to have less output than the FL when split. should i make the step up in the bridge to the Aldrich? Maybe Aldrich in the neck and bridge??

Neck:
1. I was going to do the GG .800-.850, but im not sure if its going to feel right (I own a Rg550 with a toothpick neck and a Gibson 1958 with a baseball bat neck and i like them both, haha).. I was thinking of going down to .780-.830? I do prefer my necks sort of thin, but its hard to determine when i cant physically feel one.

thanks guy!

About the BFTS There was one post where the guy said he had problems in with recording it with other guitars everyone bashed him for it if it were me i wouldnt go for it as i think suhrs craftmanship is more than enough.
Regardless you wont have a problem with or without it.

As for pickups i would recommend going for an aldrich set.

For the Neck what nut size did you go with if you went with 1.650 id stay withthe 800-850 if you went with the 1.69 thicket nut you might enjoy the 780-830 its similar to the petrucci neck on a jp6.

Anyone else?

I hear nothing out of tune between my bass player and I. I can tell the difference between my non BFTS guitars and my Suhr, but I've never had any issue with it sounding out of tune in a band context. Odds are, nobody in the audience will tell the difference.

I just picked up my second Suhr and had ordered the SSV, FL, SSH+...after playing it about a month I switched out the buckers for Aldrich's. They weren't bad pickups, but they just seemed to be missing something compared to the Aldrich set (which I've had in three other guitars now). Looking back, I could have lived with the SSV, but the SSH+ just felt a little blah to me. And the pickup attack on the Aldrich neck seems much sharper to me, which I like.

Of course, this is all just my opinion...they're all good pickups. And Suhr has such great customer service...they've swapped out pickups for me in the past when I didn't like my own choice. (of course, I had to install the new ones, but that's no big deal...better than not liking my new guitar).
