I got the new JJ 6L6GC tube to put in the EVH 5150 III. The plate voltage averages 472.5. I used the Weber Bias calculator on their website and was suprised to see it calculate the bias value of 44.4mA. In comparison to the EL34s in my xtc, bias value 30mA, this seems high. Also, if I substitute 6L6(no GC designation) tubes in the calculator, it yields a value of 28mA.

Does this make sense to you guys? Are 6L6GC tubes biased at a higher value than the 6L6 and EL34?

Here's the Weber calculator link.

and futher on down the page .....

6L6GC - 30W

Hot (70%) Avg (60%) Cool (50%)
300V 70mA 60mA 50mA
325V 65mA 55mA 46mA
350V 60mA 51mA 43mA
375V 56mA 48mA 40mA
400V 53mA 45mA 38mA
425V 49mA 42mA 35mA
450V 47mA 40mA 33mA
475V 44mA 38mA 32mA
500V 42mA 36mA 30mA

25 Watt tubes 6L6, 6L6GB, 5881, and EL34

30 Watt tubes 6L6GC, 6L6WXT+, and 6L6WGC

Yes, its all due to the higher 30W rating

my Spidervalve has a plate voltage of 450 and I bias 6l6gc at 42mA that what my tech recommended . 6l6hcp by groovetubes are recommended at 32 mA and 5881 at 35 that's with a 450 average
