BIG DIEZEL DAY AT GUITAR CENTER TODAY

Shit what an enlightening experience. Had a break from work so loaded up the car and off I went.
Got to bring my new herbert and play through a:
:rear load v30 212
:front load k100 212
:front load k100 412

Herbert has the most chest pounding thump with the fl k100 for sure. It's like they were made in heaven for chugging. I like the v30 also. But damn the k100 was HEAVY. Tight focused stiffer everything good for tight metal that cab had. The rear load v30 was second that I played, it had that roundness but still big and just tight enough for anything. Sounded really good. The 212k100 was cool but lost a lot of lows in the 212 from 412, but still great for metalz

-Hagen
-they had dmoll also, but owned that one for a couple years.

I like the vh4 second behind the Herbert, then surprisingly the Paul sounded pretty nice too. But the Herbert was the king, shit that amp has some thump and balls. Vh4 sounded tight and angry, I will be getting the vh2 hopefully when it comes out.

Very cool to get the chance to do that. My platinum room at guitar center Dallas has stepped up their game. They let me run free on that room, play as loud as I wanted, as long as I wanted. But I also just bought a new Herbert mkII yesterday. So they should

Cool. I'm hoping to try the VH2 and Big Max when they're out. I love the VH4 but can't justify the cost when I play a Marshall the vast majority of the time. But if the VH2 or Big Max can do it for less...

Big +1,000,000 to all of this. The Herbert MKII is a metal monsta! No ifs, ands, or buts. It kills. Period. The VH4 is more well-rounded, and versatile to cover more ground.

I wish any of the 3 GCs near me had anything like this. The best I see there nowadays is a PV6505+, EVH5153, Bogner Shiva or Friedman. The ones near me actually look like they might close any day now. Like maybe 3 associates total covering the entire store at anytime.. no more. Weird. And sad.

Here is my Diezel setup.

My early 2001 VH4 sounds like crap with my V30/K100 cab, so it's ran through my all V30's cab and sounds great. Herbert seems to do just fine with K100's for the most part and pairs with the K100/V30 combo cabs much better.

How else would you compare the Paul to the VH4 or Herbert? I heard it sounds small compared to those amps. Would you agree with that? Overall, I didn't like it as much as the VH4 or Herbert based on the videos of Diezel's channel, but I still may wanna try it in person. It seemed like it can't get as growly or angry/raw sounding as the VH4. The one thing that it did seem to excel at though based on his clips were leads tones on channel 3. How did you like it for leads compare to the VH4 or Herbert?

Herbert was the punchiest and had the most gut wrenching lows and a really nice eq. My favorite for sure. VH4 was up there with the Herbert on pure muscle and aggressiveness rich Diezel tone. Less lows, tighter, mids are a little more 3D. I really liked the vh4 also. They are on another level imo than the other diezels.
The Paul would be my next choice if budget was an issue. It reminded me a lot of the dmoll but clearer, some less low mids, little more sparkle or karrang, and the reverb is pretty sweet. I know there's lots of variables. But I see why the Herbert and the vh4 are priced they way they are, they are MAGICAL.
I played the Hagen for a bit, it was neat, but had lots more mids, prob not my first choice for brootz, but you could easily do it. After I played the Hagen and read Wizard of ozz description of, it was spot on, I only had about 10 min with it.
But it was hard to stop playing the herb and vh4 honestly.

How different are the voicings between ch 2 & 3 on the herbert from the dmoll?

The amps sound completely different to me. But similar changing between the two channels for both. 2 was tighter and brighter on both, 3 was bigger and more low mids. But really very different. I get the "Herbert's little brother thing" they have lots of familiar characteristics, but they sound like two different amps to me. I had almost two years with the dmoll, the Herbert mkII was an eye opener.
Also I liked the dmoll boosted a little better than unboosted. Herbert needs nothing, but takes ods great also

Im glad you posted this because i never bothered to try the dmoll because i already had a herbert and seen others say they was similar and i figured theres no point in getting a dmoll.

You may like it, I think they are different enough to own both. But I wanted the metal king, I wanted the brootz, I wanted the biggest tightest lowend on an amp made today. Hence the 180w beast that is the herbert. And I have a butterslax, so dmoll had to go.
