IMHO, not really enough to matter. The B has a little bit tighter low end.

That's exactly what I've heard. If you post this question on the mesa forum you'll receive the "true" differences. Notice the " "s (I really don't think the difference is, as Marshall Freak stated, "enough to matter."

very small, if even noticeable at all. a few cosmetic changes on the back of the head.

The loops different isnt it?

Right, the loops are different. R2 was tweaked to have more gain. The lead channel was tweaked slightly, not sure how. As far as tubes, the IVA has 4 12AX7's and 1 12AT7's. The IVB has 5 12AX7's.

It seems like most people prefer the IVB. I have a mark IVA that I love, great amp....

I'm wanting to get one and I'm seeing an A and a B for sale. I mainly intend to use it for the lead channel Graphic V thing but also want to experiment with slightly broken up rock tones with it too. Basically my poor man's Fender but metal ready.

R2 is supposed to be better on the IVB, so I would go with the IVB just based on that. I like boosting R2 on my IVA, either a Timmy or Maxon OD-808 works great for that....

It's a noticeable difference, i owned an A version which was a long chassis but wanted a shorty so i got a B version. Noticed the difference right away, but i don't think it's enough to dump one for the other. The B has a little more preamp gain and grind.

too subtle to matter?

Too subtle even for TGP to obsess over.

$5 says that after 3 pages they'd have you convinced it was a totally different amp...

Indeed. Let's be serious here, nothing is too subtle for TGP
