I'm a long time Aldrich user in my Les Paul, but as we all do now and then. . .I'm considering a switch.

How does the Aldrich compare to the Black Dogs?

Which one is fatter sounding for single note stuff?

I've never played the Suhr Aldrich, but the Black Dog is the fattest of the fat for single notes. As it says in the BKP description, something like "notes have a lot of weight behind them", it really is true. The LP I put them in was a little plinky on top and it really fattened it right up.
Be prepared for a lot less output. It's a hot PAF, but takes gain like no other, so if you have a high gain amp, you can go right from vintage to cranking it right up and the Black Dog won't fall apart.

Amps are old Marshalls, Bogner 101b, SLO, 92 Dual Rec, and a Friedman Modded Marshall.

Sounds like it could be what I'm looking for!

Anyone else able to chime in?

I put Black Dogs in my Les Paul after removing EMGs and after lowering the bridge pickup a lil it's working. What's funny is I've been wondering what the Aldrichs would sound like in there but I'm thinking I went the right direction. Played it yesterday it sounded good through my rig.

My amps are similar: Friedman BE 1OO, SLO, Bogner 100b, Trem-a-verb and I'm using a multiple amp set up. Really like it through the Friedman...

SLO, XTC and a Friedman BrownEye ?!?! thats like the Holy Trinity right there!
