Blackfire Proteus vs EMG 81/85

Talk to me about the proteus actives. Thinking of ripping out the JB/59 combination in my edwards and putting proteus pickups in it or an SH-5.

Already have an LPC with an 81/85. I’m a big fan of the Duncan distortion as well but also have been wanting to check out the aldrich set.

Opinions?

I haven’t heard much movement about them but I know Gus G brings the heat and his tone is super aggressive. He also appreciates the passive feel and bounce. The Proteus also keeps the traditional cover look.

They’re pricey though. Wanted to see what others think first before I go stripping a passive guitar for them.
