It's funny how it seems to be easy with a visual aid, but noone heard the changes without it:)

My post meant to imply that obvious fact. I only commented on the visual aid video. Couldn't tell the exact moments of change without the visual aid. I think the playing style of the clip makes it a bit hard to detect small changes (stops and starts, galloping rhthyms, etc.) With it, I can hear the insanely small difference the Kemper changes the tone. AND, I don't think I could've picked which one was which until I actually owned a Kemper. YMMV

Bottom end on the first one makes me think Kemper and the Mesa is second.

Definitely funny... although I cheated because I saw someone say they changed about half way through so I just skipped from the beginning to a later section, which did sound different. The first portion having more sub-bottom than the later, leading me to say Kemper then Mesa. I should go back and use the visual aid but, well, I'm lazy.

well, if you did go back to the visual aid you'll find that it's not quite that simple ;)

I listened to the first clip.....didnt do the visual aid clip.
Both sounded pretty close. I am not into splitting hairs again these days. Damn near drove myself nuts doing that between amps....clips....several years ago. :lol: :LOL:
For me? Both sounded great and if either work for someone in their playing situation...amp...moddler..Bedroom...gigs...its a Win right? :thumbsup:

Well I listened to the 1st clip....and if there was a Mesa playing and a Kemper....thats the both I ment.
Usually when I listen to a clip....I play it....then noodle off on another site....card game....etc...while listening.
Again....the tone sounded very similar in the clip. And it sounded good to me. :thumbsup:

that's the thing, if you watched the second video you'd see that what you said doesn't make much sense ;)

Well wouldnt be the 1st time I was told what I said didnt make much sense. :lol: :LOL:
Sounded good. Not sure what else to add. ;)

Yup....that is pretty damn amazing!
Put that into a mix and no one can tell the difference.....but there is always be someone out there who could tell the plate voltage by what they hear, no question. :confused: :doh:

So cool!
Which Mesa profile did you use? Your own?

Please share it!

:)

I heard the changes without the visual aid, hence why I said it's changing back and forth multiple times. Not sure which is which though.
With headphones you can clearly hear the midrange changes after the first set of palm mutes, and then continues to go back and forth. Gonna guess purple is amp.

Yeah, it's my own revf.
The profile will be in the lsd profile pack, it'll be a while till that'll be available though

I'm curious of what the point of going back and forth is? Why not post two sections and be done with it?

I also vote purple is amp. But like others have said, I think the epsilon difference between the two can be
eq-ed out.

My question is for somebody who wants a silent option: Axe or KPA?

We've been through this a million times. If you use a Line 6 Pod HD500 & tone match its Mesa amp sim to the real deal, it will fool many people in a recorded clip. Ola used an HD500 & did this very thing in a clip over a year ago.

Pete Thorn fooled Dave Friedman the other day in a comparison between the Axe II BE100 model & the real deal.

In case someone out there still hasn't gotten the memo: Modelers can fool anybody in a recording. Tube amps are no longer necessary for recording. For live use, both tube amps & modelers can sound great, just alright or like complete shit!!!
+1

I've been using my HD500 for recording pretty much totally for the past few months. I still like recording my Peavey, but I'm happy with what I get out of the HD.

I still use real amps live!

purple = Mesa
green = Recklinghausen

My bet is the other way...

purple = profile
green = Reckl, uhm, Rectifier, the green shows at least "some" dynamics

I think purple is the Kemper. To be fair, before the visual video was posted I thought purple was Kemper but I did not know it changed out so quickly. Which means, there isn't much of a difference.
