Anyone have any clips of one doing high gain?
Is it any good at getting modern rock type sounds?

Thanks!!

if you click my facebook page and listen to the 2 songs you'll hear pretty much 3 stages of the shiva. Big cleans, light crunch and heavy OD (I think you have to fast forward towards the end of both songs to hear the heavier crunch.

Hope that helps. If you need settings let me know.

edit: here is a direct link to sound cloud. Check out Gates of Siberia first. OD kicks in at :42 after that you get a more compressed OD ( more gain less volume )

2:04 of Gates of siberia has a much higer gain setting (maybe 3 oclock)

so you get a pretty decent spectrum on that song. The only thing it doesnt have, which is great on the 20th A Shiva is the mid range crunch ( volume at 10 or 11 and gain at noon ) I LOVE that tone but I didnt use it in this recording.

:aww: aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand here comes the 20thA Sheevs GAS pains, AGAIN!!

The 20th A Shiva and the XTC are both great amps. Cant go wrong. Seems like 20th Shivas can be bought for such a steal these days used. I saw one for $1700. thats just insane

Played a 20th XTC and Shiva today at a Dallas Guitar Center. Had that cosmo tolex too, looked freaking sweet! Both are incredible! I'd say its great at getting modern rock tones. That's probly its strong point! The 20th Shiva came w/ EL34's which I thought was crazy!! The guy that runs that room is one of the top Bogner/PRS salesmen in the nation so I'm betting he gets a sweet hookup!

That might have been mine. Great amps indeed.

I had a older 6L6 shiva a while back and it was a great sounding amp but it just didn't quite give up the
goods like I wanted it to..... I hear that the 20th's are a totally different animal, I GOT to find one to try out!!

You'll be surprised.

It's not even fair to call it a Shiva...I feel it's way different of an animal than the regular Shivas.

It's like 2 amps in one. You've got the regular Shiva goodness, and the extra gain channel for some great modern high gain. And I think the cleans are even better on the 20th than the normal Shiva.

+1 on this.

A lot of people took the older Shiva, and boosted it with a pedal for higher, modern gain. The new MODE switch makes it possible to do this, without a pedal.

(And, there's a very easy mod documented to make it footswitchable)

Not the best video ever, but here's a guitar demo I made, using my EL34 20th Shiva, on the regular gain mode, maxxed, doing some hard rock riffs. Volume wasn't THAT loud, but you can kinda get the idea.

 and 20th Ann XTC.
I've already fully and completely extinguished my GAS for the 20thA XTC, as that's one of my staples in my sesh space. It ain't going NO WHERE!! Ever!!

But the Sheeeeevs, is just sooooooooo tempting... fap fap fap.

Mo :D

^^ You really should get a 20th Shiva just so I can read what you think of it in contrast to a Hagen....
