Talking about the Pink Tour and his Gibson and Shivas

He needs to get some 6550's up on that Shiva :D

Wonder if he got to tap Pink?
Nah, She's married. She's from the town I live in.

I bet they are great friends though. I also bet he gets a better crowd selection than those guitarist for Iron Maiden?

I love Maiden do not take me wrong, but I am just saying..... I would take the gig he has in a heartbeat!

Pink and company has always rocked the house.

I wonder what he's playing thru on those two lesson videos? Sounds really good, and not loud. I wonder if it was his shiva??

Dude's a monster. He did some really cool Bogner Alchemist demos on the Bogner website. Check em out. They actually made me want one for a while there...

Back to the OP's question, IMHO, it's a no brainer... The 20thA slays in the EL34 format.

I mean it, had mine now for quite some time and each and everytime I load it up, it just delivers in spades...

viewtopic.php?f=59&t=71083

No sense revising it, nothing's really changed except for the fact I love it even more now :D

So far, it's the closest thing to 'perfect' I've found in one amp... That's of course, to my ears, and my playing style...not everyone would agree. But jaaaayzeeus, the tweaks that come built into this thing are simply off the hook :student:

If I could do any one thing to it, fattening up channel 3 a bit at moderate volumes would excite me. But, I can work around that.

I've just made sure to use hot humbuckers, keep the mids and the bass up, and let 'er rip. I get a beautiful swirl on channel 3 when she's running hot - super rich. Whatever, devout fanboi, I love mine...can't say enough about it. Glad you're diggin' yours just the same

Peace,
V.

Just spent about two hours with the 20X. First thing, I got the Red Channel 3 fucking smoking. I was concentrating on the Blue Channel too much trying to get it dialed up in normal mode. Backwards.......start with the Red Channel and get it like you like. Huge bottom end now, a little scooped in the mids and a creamy top. Since Red and Blue share EQ for the most part, I didn't want to touch anything. So, flicked Blue to the Plexi mode, got the excursion and presence dialed in and boom. Instant cranked Plexi tone - and a good one at that. Green channel - don't need it really, bur dialed up a good Texas blues crunch on it. Pretty cool when boosted. I am really shitting down both legs with it now. Getting the label maker out and marking these damn settings too.

Secondly, the 20X sounds better I think in a Bogner rear load with V30's. I thought the front load was going to be the catch all for everything. But, not in this case.

Messed around with the presets on the TC 2290 in the 20X FX loop. Total XTC...If you got the coin and see one come up for sale and are serious about your tone, grab one of these 2290's. Shit, I didn't know what I was missing all these years. The 20 presets on it have about 5 that just make you go squirt.

The 20X is just the coolest amp on the planet.

Steve

FWIW, I got mine with the matching 4x12 RL with V30's. It kicks. I believe it's rear loaded, and considering I wasn't a HOOOOOOGE fan of the V30's to start with, once broken in, they totally complement the amp's voicing - especially the Red and Blue.

I find anything in those 2 special channels is just the tits with a little time spent tweaking the sound. And all things considered, I can certainly tolerate the clean - no problemo!!

Back to playing...

We are definitely on the same page bro. I could really care less about the clean. I would rather Bogner had designed the amp with Plexi - Blue Channel - Red Channel.

I am questioning the need for a Twin Jet now. Gonna get out and do some more tube tweaking with it. But, the 20X Red channel gives me wood

Got the 2290 in the FX loop and I am not an FX loop nut, but the parallel loop on the 20X is fucking awesome and totally transparent. And, preset 98 just freakin rocks!

Red channel today, '57 Goldtop Darkback, NO FX, straight in, noon on the MV...

Righteously fuckin' chewy ballistic sonic harmonic pandemonium thunder!!

HELL :rawk:
F'N :rawk:
YEAH!! :rawk:

that's the "big sack" setting. i like to run the red gain around 10:00 and the master 11:00-12:00....when nobody's home, or next door, or down the block!

the EQ possibilities really open up when you can use the masters to drive this amp.
