So about a month ago, I was on the hunt for a beater 2x12 cab. I picked up this Bogner Alchemist diagonal 2x12 cab on CL for a good price. Came loaded with a Greenback and H30, which I swapped out for a pair of V30s. Even though it was a beater, the cosmetics were kinda bugging me - Brushed Metal Logo and Shiny Black Silver Sparkle Grill. As the singer in my band said "That kinda looks like a piece of Louis Vitton luggage."

Well, I bought a yard of the small basket weave cane cloth from Mojo, and went to town. Doesn't match the Bogner Wheat grill 100% (but that's impossible, since that cloth is no longer available ANYWHERE...), but it looks a lot better to me. From a distance away, it looks great. I also spray painted the brushed-metal logo with a cream enamel, to match the USA cabs.

I gotta say - installing grill cloth is a huge pain in the butt. I got it pretty even, but it's not perfect. It's not snare-drum tight, but it's just about as tight as my stock Bogner cabs. All in all, I love the look, but not something I'd ever really want to tackle again.

This is inspiring me to change the silver grill cloth on my Traynor dark horse 112. It is a killer cab, but has the same silver sparkle grill cloth. I also have some small cane grill cloth looking for an amp to go on...

Looks like a killer cab in you last pic there. Much better than the silver sparkle stuff. Also I have head that those 212 cabs kick some serious ass!!

Let me tell ya - for $200 bucks used, it was a total score.

I swapped the speakers for V30s (for higher wattage and more versatility), but it sounds surprisingly big for an open back. I'm considering making a back panel out of some nice birch ply, and covering it in tolex, to close it up, and give it a bit more thunk. Probably would cost me less than $25, so it would be a cool experiment.

WOW that is a killer price!!! Gear for sale locally is usually very expensive. One of these cabs since they sell for $500 new would probably be going for $350-$400 locally. There are even a lot of ads with people asking the new price for used gear.
