I've got the 45. It hits about the same as a 50w marshall, IMO. You might not get crystal clear headroom with humbuckers and a loud drummer but I can't imagine it not keeping up. It can move some air. In a lot of ways I think it would be the ideal live amp. Footswitchable gain boost on both channels and your choice of either a FS-ablre fx loop or a volume/solo boost.
And yes, the volume tapers are odd. The sweep is very slow with most of the action coming up high on the dial. It's a great thing for home playing because it's not a situation where it goes from off to LOUD. It's easier to dial it in. But yeah it will throw you off at first when you find yourself winding up the master volume to noon or more before it gets loud. It's even more drastic in the 80s mode. The volume is there but you have to wind up the dial. It's just the taper of the pots.
