Just a heads up for anyone with a noisy Eclipse loop...

I have a 2018 Eclipse, which is a fantastic amp. However, when I got it, the loop was very loud, with a hiss every time the loop was engaged. It was especially noticeable at unity gain.

I took the amp to Bogner as they said they have a loop update for it. Got it back today and it's dead silent. I used to have to turn the loop return volume 3/4 up for unity gain. Now it gets unity at 1/4 way up and has zero additional noise. The loop is really transparent too. Sounds essentially the same on or off. Huge improvement.

I am probably going to sell this amp, even though it's a really good one. With the loop fix it really has no drawbacks. I just have way to many modded Marshall type amps to justify keeping it. But I wanted to give anyone out there with this issue a resolution to the problem.

A 2018 amp in need of a loop update?

Kind of my feeling too. Now I know if buying a used one you're possibly adding shipping back and forth to Bogner to actually use the amp.

At a certain point they changed the design in production, I believe. So some may already have the update. I'm not 100% on this though.

I read somewhere else that they were initially made with a high send level to better accommodate pedals. I can't remember the exact explanation. Either way, they made adjustments to the design based on customer feedback. Although mine works perfect with pedals with the update.

I'm not a designer, so I'm sure it's 'just not that easy', but I feel like if Friedman can make such quiet and transparent loop, why can't the others? ...Always some trade off with amps, huh?

I owned a XTC 100B with a updated effects loop. I don't recall the production year of the amp, but, that was 10 years ago. Just sayin...

I ask this ALL the time!

Friedman has done it right. No doubt.

Mike Soldano can tell stories about loop ?
I dont understand how Bogner guys cant recognize that issue in testing phase...
Friedman has solid state loop which is really transparent but dont have return control for volume boosting of tube loop. I have first version of Helios 100 and loop works flawlessly.
