Made this clip yesterday at fairly friendly volumes - not too low, not crazy loud either. Hot input, 70's setting, boosted with Mesa Flux Drive. Guitar is a San Dimas with a JB in the bridge.

Very nice Helios sound great boosted imo, I preferred boosting 70's mode/hot input to the 80's mode diodes when I had mine. :)

me too - I like the 70/s mode boosted too, 80's is overkill boosted

How does it compare to the Splawn? Sounds similar from here.

They're pretty different to play feel wise, the Splawn has a cool (THWACK) kind of attack to the chuggy stuff, kinda like a Plexi to me, and the low end is really big. The Splawn also has loads of gain. I typically play the Splawn with the gain at 10:00. My Splawn Pro Stock also has 6550 so to my ears it's got a woodyness it it. Hard to describe...but yes since they're Marshall style amps, they are in the same zip code. The Helios is way more versatile since it's got 2 channels (barely messed with the clean) and lots of options to eq the amp.

Wow, that sounds mean!! Great clip! Sounds like it would cut through anything.

i need to pull the Zoom out instead of the iphone...

Thanks! I hope to record one with the ZOOM as the audio is way better for capturing the in room sound, way better than iphone

My experience as well (have a Splawn PS with EL34B's and just sold my Helios). Helios is way more versatile, but the Splawn had more gain without a boost (which I like), and I don't need a clean channel. Splawn cleans up well enought for me using guitar volume.

Helios boosted in 70's mode was my favorite. 70's mode still has a lot of gain when you max it. Super versatile amp. I would love to have held onto mine, but ultimately I couldn't afford it.

Pretty cool. Versatile for sure. Id prefer an Uber for metal but this clip not bad at all.

The first riff sounded like something Madball
