Hello everyone,
I'd like to share something I wouldn't have predicted a few years ago, and I'd really value the opinion of this community, which I've always respected for its depth on gear.
I've been a longtime Bogner player. My Helios was built for me and dedicated by Reinhold Bogner himself, so it means a lot to me, and I honestly never thought I'd go digital. But I needed a way to play at home, and what began as a practical solution has become permanent, including for recording.
How I did the capture
Gain structure
To push the gain, I put a capture of a BB Preamp in front of the Helios capture. It's a pairing I love: it sounds very snappy, with a percussive attack that I really enjoy.
Why I'm sharing this
I've been using this setup on my recent recordings, and the Little Wing below is one example of how it sounds in context:
I'd be very interested in your feedback, especially from people who have captured high-gain or boutique amps ?
Thank you for reading, and thank you in advance for any thoughts.
Respectfully,
Tristan

How I did the capture
- I captured my Helios in the Quad Cortex Mini using my OX Amp Top Box. The goal was to get a direct, clean signal of the amp it self, without relying on a miked cab.
- I used Neural DSP's V2 capture algorithm.
- Once captured, I use the Quad Cortex Mini's native cabs rather than the OX speakers.
