How would you describe the Bogner in house sound?
It was in the “twin jet” I had also and every Bogner I heard, but the XTC has it in full blown!
This grit smashing growling OD sound incorporate with every chord or note..

Call me dumb but I have no idea what you're asking.

He's asking about the distinctive Bogner sound, you can hear it in every Bogner model. It's a "Woody" tone that is thick and easy on the ear.

You can hear it in every Bogner model... if you're not in a mix
Then you can't hear anything

Bogner hater huh? The mids knob is your friend. Need to dial them bright.

One of the best amps I've ever played was a Bogner.

I've played a few but not enough to be completely familiar with the "Bogner" sound.

I can confidently say I like it better than many other amp signature sounds.

Owning 3 Bogner amps and 2 cabs, I'd hardly call myself a Bogner hater
Too much mids makes them sound like an AM radio

I'm getting one soon. I hope I don't get lost in themix.

I actually had this problem with my VHT pitbull. Sounded amazing on it's own.

But if the other guitarist was at practice it got lost a lot.

It really pissed me off and I blame his shit gear. The guy had I don't even remember what, it was a solid state. Very possibly a crate and an ok cab.

When your Bogner gets lost are you playing as the only guitarist?

I am curious about this. Some amps just don't mesh well with others.

The amps by themselves sound fine, unless you're used to a real punchy sound
If you play solo stuff like Vai and your whole band is EQ'ed in around your guitar sound, you can get away with it. Snares, vocals, bass can all get in the way.
I'll be selling all 3 Bogner amps soon, for different reasons
Ecstasy 101b: only using the blue channel and tired of the perpetual blanket over it. The Blue pedal was the final straw; it's all the blue tone that I need
Shiva EL34: better clean, good rock tone, but there are tons of other Marshally amps that can do it better
Uberschall: nice rich sound on the gain channel, I hardly ever play metal anymore though

Maybe you are not a hater but looks like it is not the tone for you. I struggled with mine for quite some time, what helped me eq it was to set up my SLO 100 and XTC with a "Headbone Switcher". I managed to dial the XTC nice and bright where it cuts nicely in a band situation. I did some extensive A/B tests against my SLO and Marsha both recording and live. I can understand the Bogner tone not being everyones' ideal tone and that's cool, but it has really grown on me over the past 10 years. Here's something I recorded at home on my 100B, I persoanally love this tone. https://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_so ... ID=6919086

If you're getting lost in the mix then you're EQing the amp all wrong. The cymbals are pretty trebly sounding so try dropping the presence or treble. Guitars are about the mids. That's where they sit and the Bogners sound is lower mid heavy.

In a two guitar band you have to work out who's covering the high or low midrange frequency. If the other guitarist has a solid state amp then they'll probably have the higher mid frequency range covered and the Bogner should sit nicely along side that.

In my experience, it's actually the treble knob that's your friend on a Bogner.

No Blanket here....user error IMO. Play in two guitar band, no issues although will say 20th is a bit better than 101b in the cut dept. But you have to know how to set them cause they can sound flat with everything at 12 noon especially the presence. Presence turned up to 2 o 3 o clock makes a word of difference. Most versatile of all amps, again IMO. 3 channels with switchable boosts for each = 6 differing tones and gain levels. Well thought out amp. If I had to keep just one the XTC 20th would be the keeper. Can be used for any type of music (except scooped metal and with EQ can do that too).

Exactly!
But never mind.
Thanks any way.

could you post a pic or something of your settings? i've modded my XTC for more brightness, but i'm always curious how other folks are dialing them in.

Thing is, when you EQ an Ecstasy to cut through, it doesn't sound like an Ecstasy anymore
And then you might as well get another amp

Mine is a 100B. I set the pre EQ to the brightest position, trebble 1:00, mid 1:00, bass 12:00 (depending on guitar) presence at about 10:00. Not sure of your model but I set the excurtion switch to the middle position. Rear panel is set to "Modern".
