Hi I'm a newbie on here and its totally my first post. I am the proud owner of a Shiva EL34 1X12 combo which I use with a Shiva 1x12 extension cab and I love it! Problem is I've just got myself a Shiva anniversary with KT88's I'm using the O/S 3/4 closed Bogner cab with V30's. I prefer the sound of the classic 80 celestions in the combo and 1x12 as they are not fizzy at the top end. What speakers do you guys use. I play classic rock and gig the EL34 combo all the time but haven't taken the plunge with the anniversary yet. Also I'm in the UK so can't get a Bogner tee shirt to spread the word here. Any suggestions where I can get a couple? Thanks

In my 20th Shiva 1x12 with 6550s I use a Scumback M75 100 watter. (It just sings)

I never cared for the CL80 in the 1x12 combo unless you were playing clean all the time.
(This was using KT88s or 6550s)

In my Bogner OS2x12 today I use a Scumback M75 and J75 (No fizz and sounds very musical with "crack")

I'd imagine Scumbacks are real hard to get in the UK so write Jim ASAP and get underway.

Bogner Tshirts? - rare as rocking horse shit!!!

Good luck and welcome to the Bogner family.

I've seen tshirts on eBay, but I hate the manufacturer of the shirts. Worst company in terms of fit.

I've got a few that were sent to me by my old retailer.... They're like shower curtains in the 'fit' department. Horrible. I use 'em for the gym only...garbage.

Better to turn your Sheevs to '10' if you wanna spread the word

Hmm. I have several, most fit me fine... not too big, not excessively tight. (Sized Medium, I am about 5'7", 145lbs.) I think 2 of them don't fit well...

You can't get an anniversary shiva 1x12 combo in the UK   What speaker do they come with from the factory?

Yes and you can only assume the CL80 is the most powerful Celestion type that they will use.

Whilst some would share your concern I doubt the CL80 will die if you run it hard. While I had one in my 1x12 combo and I play super loud all was well with no sign of death.

I ended putting in a Scumback 100 watt that has absolutley copped a caning and still lives today. I like the sound of the Scumback far more than the CL80.

IMO I believe that a 1 x12 can only delver so much sound pressure level. Sure they make 12s that can handle 300 watts but they will never sound like 300 watts coming back at you. I think you get to a certain SPL with a single 12 and no matter how hard you feed it won't make it sound louder.

Having said all that I figure a single 12 is probably good for about an average 60 watts and you're done after that. So using a single 12 at 80 watts should be fine and I think it does work fine in reality as i'm not aware of any blown CL80s in a Bogner Shiva 20th.

Off topic slightly I would be very keen to hear about people using 2x10 in a Shiva.

Thanks that's really interesting. How would you say the Scumback differs in sound?

Best I have found for the 20th Shiva is V30s by far. Scumbacks were nice, but way too smooth and polite for a rock band. Same problem with my PWE. When I finally got the V30s, the band was like, ah, that is it, perfect. G12K-100s work well and Greenbacks.

Although I have found V30s best with most Bogners, I would love to try mixing a V30 and CL80 or G12K-100 in my Bogner cab.
I bet Creamback 65s will be great too.

It's interesting, the Boggy lineup does indeed play nice with the V30s, and I'm typically more a critic of the V30s than a lover of...

V30s and Greenbacks are the most often used by professionals for a reason.
