Bogner Shiva guys, help wanted

Hey guys

I have the Bogner Shiva 20th and the standard EL34. I am looking for advice on live tone for these. Any guys that use them care to share their settings please?

I want a nice warm crunchy rock sound. Not metal, but just something I can use an OD pedal to boost for leads.

When I use them at home they sound great, but live I seem to get a lot of flub and it doesn't seem tight enough. So just wondering how anyone else sets these up?

Not really having a great time with amps right now. Anything I use I don't seem to be happy with. I use a Diezel Herbert and it seems too compressed, Various Mesa's which seem too boomy, modded 5150, too much over the top for me.. and so on.

If you are able convert it to 6550's. It will be much tighter and a little more open at volumes. You would have to remove the resistor. The board is very high quality and through holed. If you touch the resistor leg with an iron from topside you will be surprised at how easy it pops out. Same going back in. Noone will be able to tell you even did it.

What cabinet and speakers are you using? I tried my 20th on my friends Marshall 4x12 loaded with 65's and i thought it sounded egh on his cab where most other amps sound great on. The 20th on a Bogner 4x12 loaded with V30's really seems like the right fit.

If you're already using that then not sure. I haven't used the 20th live with a band but i will be soon.
 
I've had nothing but good luck with my 20th Shiva, loaded with EL34s, into Bogner Cabs with V30s. Tone controls and presence at noon, gain dimed, master about half way.
