Interesting thread
Alright, here it goes. I had the TJ, a brand new one, loaded with KT88s, fully stock. I found the amp to be an incredible amp at going full bore with nu-metal tones, prog-metal, and a host of other "more aggressively voiced" styles of play. Was the tone good? It was f*ckin'
off the hook good. I found the amp had some idiosyncracies and oddities in how it EQ'd out, but using that ol' adage of "adjusting with yer ears, not yer eyes" definitely met the mark with this head. Now, as for 'bedroom levels', I'm sorry - don't buy this amp if you're just sitting in your home jammin' away like a wannabe. No dice. This thing is ridiculously powerful and needs to be opened up to breathe. Did it sound okay at lower volumes though? Hell yeah. But not as good as noon-plus
I ran mine through a matching UberKab - V30/G12T75. Thing was outrageous. Now, the crux of the biscuit is that I DID end up selling it. I sold it because I found its 'specialty' was a little too pinpointed for my otherwise 'broader' spectrum of musical play. Being only 2 channels, it wasn't able to easily go from crunch to grind to gainy to ripppin to snarlin' without a serious timeout and EQ tweak. That said, when it was on, it was seriously on. The tone is rich, thick, organic, loaded with overtones, sure it's compressed, but not sterile or anything of the like. I've had cats I know own this amp and they can conjure a LOT of sounds from it. I'm just not as patient. But for balls to the walls serious metal and louder than most heads out there, it'll tear a new @sshole in most of the competition.
Here's my blurb on it:

And here's a terrific clip from TM:
If I could have it back, I probably would...and maybe one day, I'll score another one and not let it go. It was a killer amp, hands down.
Peace,
