What is a reasonable street price for a used one? What to look for?

I have heard a few guys say the blue rev XTC's are better? What makes it any better or worse?

Debating putting my MM OT/choke 5150 II on the chopping block for a bogner. Really like the simplicity and just looking for something new.

Other amp is a T-verb 120W head

Opinions? Testimonies? Clips? :D

I've not tried the Twin Jet, but I have an Uberschall, and it KILLS the 5150, 5152, 6505+ imho. Not even close.

i've tried a twin jet and:

+100000

there's a pretty sick one with an "evil mod" in the classifieds. if i had the dough, i'd grab it. dunno what prices are good though.

also, xtc's and Twin Jets are very different beasts, imo. XTC has shitload of (imo confusing) switching options and seems to be voiced more for rock. Twin Jet is dirty and dirty, the huge and angry type. a lot looser and less compressed than a lot of the modern high gainers.

Well first, the 'blue Rev(ision)' is referring to an Uber, not an XTC. And of course, whichever version is actually 'better' all depends on the guy playing through the amp.

But I will say this: I've owned a Rev 2 that was just a crushing amp...and the same can be said for TJs.

Rev 2s and Rev Blues can be found for well under $2k; TJs are going for $1800-$2000. Frankly, I think you can do no wrong by simply trying any of them; you aren't going to lose any money if you want to flip and try another.

I second what Bronco said. I have a Rev Blue Uberschall and a Classic Ecstasy and they are very different beasts. I personally wouldn't off the 5150 as they are just a go to amp for most anything IMHO. I have an original block letter and it stays! Good luck plenty of Bogners out there for sale at the moment. If your really looking for some versatility get an Ecstasy, you can always dirt it up with a pedal slamming the front end.

pm Leib, he has a couple Bogners, might have some more info for you.

I played them both, twin Jet and Rev. 2 both has Kt88 Mod....

I can tell you tube swapping made a huge difference on the Twin jet and it seemed to like actuve pups quite a bit, I got some monsterous tones out of it and the Uberkab

I had an older Uber, pre Rev and a Rev Blue and a Twin Jet. Don't think one is necessarily better than the other - both are good. I like EL34 amps and the regular Uber had crushing gain. Twin Jet "clean" channel was a lot louder and did modded JCM800 and beyond really well. Absolute crushing in your face tone and the depth knob would crack ribs with a nice 4x12 cab. In terms of hi-gain, the Twin Jet is pretty solid.

Twin Jet is a great amp.

As far as value, I had mine in the classified section for a month at $1700 shipped and I still have it, so I doubt $2K is an accurate assumption.

I dunno.

I bought 3 of them, all had fluctuating prices.
never one as low as $1700 for a TJ tho...Lowest I paid sold one for was $1800...

We sell new Bogner Twin Jets for $2699 and I see them used for around $2100/$2300.

Bought my TJ for $1800 and sold it for $1750 I think, pretty low risk to buy used if you need to flip it imo.

Twin Jet was my favorite Über. $1800 is the ballpark used price. Great amp, big mistake letting it go.

Check out the Baron K2 or K88 too. I loved my TJ until I bought one of those. All the crushing low end of the Uber, but much better mid snarl/growl. Plus they are alot cheaper.
