Bogner Uber Ultra 150W KT88 : Noise Issue?

Maybe there was something in your environment doing it. Or you had a microphonic tube maybe?

I mean, the noise levels from at least my UU in the clips above are right there to listen to, and personally I'd say that level of noise is plenty reasonable for a high gain amp. I don't know what else to tell ya man.

Do you have the EL34 version? Maybe the KT88 versions are having issues…
 
I have the EL34 version and don’t experience any squealing at all in any mode. The only thing 2 things I run into is excessive noise on ch.1 with the bright switch toggled and presence set high and ch 2 ultra mode with gain past 1 o’clock, both scenarios to be expected though. I’m really bummed to hear you KT88 guys are having this issue.

I’m not sure why you not having a problem negates the fact that several people have had the issue. If this only happens in one amp model for several people, this is an issue with the amp not the environment. As mentioned, everyone who commented that they had issues had/has kt88 models which seems to indicate an issue with that version specifically
 
I've had the KT88 Ultra and now have the 6L6 model. I have not experienced any of this squealing or excessive noise. But I also use a noise gate in the loop because it's a super high gain amp. Are you dude's with these issues running a gate at all?

I was making the point that the "always-out-of-control" noise issues some people are reporting about the UU are not necessarily inherent to the amp's design, as they don't always occur.

As for the KT88 version specifically having the issue? Sure, possibly. However I haven't tried the KT88 version so I couldn't say if there's something going on with that version specifically though.

My friend bought rezas el34 ultra and finds it super noisey even with his gate fully tightened. Crazy

I'm running KT88s in my el34 version and I don't get any excessive noise

Kind of puzzling people aren’t trying to run a gate with such a high gain amp. I run my Zuul in the loop and in front, and it’s dead quiet without cutting anything off. I barely run it a 1/4 of the way on.

I can’t judge ANY amp until I hear it with a gate . Gate is a huge part of tone shaping . Shit even Angus Young has a gate on his old school Super Lead riff tones .

I used a gate with mine. The amp I had still squealed.

Ya know I’m starting to think JJ’s are having some quality issues. I bought some for my recto and I had 2 bad tubes out of the gate. I got replacements but that was my first time having issues with any tube manufacturer in a long while. Just speculation but curious nonetheless

I know he fell on some hard times with the writers strike. Saw him post a bunch about it. Sold off most of his stable.
