Bogner Uber Ultra KT88

The thing with Bogner is that he has changes transformers to tune primary impedance for maximum power transfer and overall power side design (grid stoppers, bias, heater supply, etc) to meet the tubes intended for the model. You can likely swap the tubes but note those KT88s pull way more heater current than EL34s.

I think I’ll still hold off for a KT88 model. I’m on the sweetwater waitlist to be notified. The Uber ultra is just different enough from a 101B to warrant both IMO.
I put off getting mine because $ is tight atm. I have a Larry to finish pay on and I’m on Hermanson list for his amp . So I’m in edit mode . But this ultra makes me curious. I miss my Bogner

I have a Cameron aldrich (non boosted) that isn’t as easy to play or thumps like my Bogner boosted. I’ve watched enough people sell bogners here for years to know that some do not sound as good as others and it’s not the tubes. They just had mass component tolerance differences like Marshall’s did and if you get a good old sounding one then you hang onto it otherwise you’ll regret it afterwards. XTCs have been steady in sale price for years so I’m not concerned with resale. It just makes no sense for me to sell mine for an UU when there isn’t overlap and both compliment each other.

Mine was pretty good . I do miss it . It was fun with the band . Makes me feel a need for ultra . But I understand. It’s cool . Mix both amps on a video too !

Yeah that fun you mention I haven’t experienced with any other amps before at least not to the same vein. It’s next level way easy to play and that is the only thing that makes it worth keeping.

It was great with a full band . Clear af . Now this makes me want an ultra more lol fr

yes. I’m aware of that. The different transformers I why I’m waiting for a KT88 model from SW as well….so if you see one before me you better buy it quick lol. The manual does say that you can put in el34 or KT88s or mix of 2 and 2, so I don’t think there’s any risk that it’ll damage the amp. Mine will go back to el34 after I get the KT88 model. Actually I’m gonna try a mix with El34s later today I think.
