Bogner Uber Ultra vs Mesa Rectifier

I have had 2 GZ rectos and and UU kt88. They aren’t similar in my opinion, the gain character just sounds completely different. Check out YouTube, I feel like the UU is pretty accurate found in anyone’s video where the GZ sounds like a bit clearer, tighter and gainier version of the tone you can expect from a recto except with no boost requirement

I have the Synergy models of each of these amps and love them both but prefer the DRECT. IMO, if the module sounds like the real amp, the Rectifier is the perfect 80s hard rock and metal amp. I love playing all the songs and styles from the 80s with this thing. I do love the Jet channel on the Bogner though. It reminds me a little of the Ecstasy.

I love both of these modules also. They are some of the biggest sounding modules.

I have a Synergy setup too, but don't have those modules. Though they are on my list to try. What partially led me down the hole was pondering saving up for the actual amp(s) instead and if a Uber Ultra and Recto covered similar ground.

I'm more of a Marshall guy. Even though I love the sound, I have a harder time getting a tone that sounds right from a Recto. That flubby low end is harder for me to work with. My ears hear the Uber Ultra as in the same general ballpark with tighter low end and much more modern sounding. I think it's the low-mids that put them in a similar realm for me. I think I'd have an easier time working with a Uberschall than a Recto. And of course where does a modded Recto fall in?

Even though I'm more of a Marshall person I would like to have other tones available. I don't want a wall of M-style amps where the differences are so nuanced they sound nearly identical. I also don't want to spend a fortune on an amp that might just sit there unused 90% of the time. Maybe I should just start off with the Synergy modules of each and go from there.

After getting Synergy I don't even want the "real" amps anymore. The modules are so good they are not needed for a bedroom player like me IMO. I've heard people who have both say the prefer the modules in some cases and also that they sound very similar.

I'm a Marshall guy too and the Bogner Jet channel and the Ecstasy module are some of the best Marshall tones I've ever heard. I think I prefer the Ecstasy over the Uber but that Jet channel gets close to Ecstasy tones the way I dial it in.

Being a Marshall guy.. where has this Rectifier been all my life... the way I dial it in it sounds similar to a Marshall but with more gain and a thicker tone with a lot of bottom end (which I love). I use a Friedman JEL 1x12 that handles all my modules well and can tame the bass on the DRECT. It really thumps but I think I prefer it with my SD1 in front.
