I'm looking at finally taking the plunge on an Uberkab, and since they never come up used around me or onling for fair price, I think I may just buy a new one.

That being said, I'm looking at the 412ST w/ salt and pepper grill, and the Uberkab in all black. From what I'm reading, they have the same construction, but the uberkab has v30/t75's front loaded, and the 412ST is rear loaded with all v30's

Anyone have experience with both? I'm conflicted on which to get, because I prefer the look and all v30 speakers in the 412st, but I currently don't own a front loaded cab among my wall, so it'd probably be good to have that as well.

I love front loaded cabs. I think they offer more cut and presence.
I have (3) front loaded cabs currently, my only rear loaded is the Friedman monster cab.
Bogner cabs are great and well constructed.
I have an uberkab and it’s great for metal.
If you don’t have a front loaded cab yet, I’d def recommend adding one to your stable.
Especially if your a metalhead.
I’m on my second uberkab. They are rare on used market, if you wait long enough one may pop up.
I got a screaming deal on my current one, was in mint condition to boot.
You may get lucky if you wait it out.

Also, just another finding of mine:
Since were talking front load.
k100’s sound light years better in a front loaded cab than a rear load IMO.

I had both in the same room, both cabs were good - Uberkab for heavy stuff was great. Get an Orange 412 and pop 2 T75 in it and it's gonna be fuller and bigger sounding, and you can find a nice PPC412 for cheap usually.

Appreciate the advice, but I don't really dig the orange cabs. Plus, to me, they're as ugly as can be, haha. I have a ton of cabs at the moment, just looking at which Bogner would fit me best.

What would you say the main differences to your ears were between the 2 bogner cabs?

Interesting! The k100 is my favorite speaker, But I only own rl cabs with them. Never heard or played them front loaded.

pull the polyfiber batting off the back panel unless you like it to sound dead.

I had the uberkab with my 101b and was able to trade it for a standard. Glad I did it. Both sounded really good though.

I like my ubercab a lot but have never used one of their regular models. I'd imagine they'd let you order whatever option you want, they are pretty flexible, I'd give them a call. Last guy I talked to at Bogner was super nice and gave me my answer in like 30 seconds.

Here is spec option sheet but I imagine they can do other things if you need them: http://www.bogneramplification.com/manu ... 2specs.pdf The speakers are listed from the back so looking from front V30 is top left if you were wondering.

Have you done this? I have a Helios cab I have half a mind of trying it on

Uberkabs can be either front or rear loaded depending on age. I dont remember what year they switched to front loaded but older ones are rear loaded. Ive had a couple 412st cabs and a rear loaded uber. I also used v30s and 75s in an x pattern in a front loaded diezel. My fave of them was the 412st, especially if you swap in a couple m65 creamback for 2 of the v30s, I dont really dig 75s. I play more hard rock than metal I suppose so your tastes might align more to the 75s. I definitely prefer rear loaded over front. Front was just always too bright and honky for me.

Yes. Sounds better without all the high-end being sucked out. It use to be my favorite cab because it was darker, but now my tastes have changed. I bought and sold another Bogner cab recently as it didn’t sound as good with the batting in it compared to my near identical Wizard cabs without.

how did you like it compared to the Uber?

This might sound weird but I only like my uberkab with wizards or Bogners . The rest my amps … idk . Just something weird . Maybe it’s 75s . But with my wizards it’s unreal
my uberkab loved my egnater tol100 but not my mojave peacemaker due to the 75s.

Haven't tried an Uberkab, but I've had a bunch of regular rear-loaded Bogner straights over the years and like them a lot. I currently have an all black one loaded with G12H-75 Creambacks and a wheat-grilled one loaded with G12M-65 Creambacks. I prefer the H75s by a LOT.

I pulled the batting out of one of them for a while. It was cool, but I eventually went back. The cab was more resonant without the batting, but it got to be a little too much.

got to A/B the standard bog v30 ST cab and stock v30/G12T-75 X-pattern ST uber using eggie tol 100 at the hi gain amp shootout in ‘01.

the standard was warmer/smoother and had a cool fluety single note resonance i was already planning to buy, but by comparison the uber had this “pull your spine out of your mouth” rock grind that made the standard cab sound less exciting by comparison and won me over.

when i got my brighter plexi voiced peacemaker the 75s were nails on a chalkboard.
eventually fixed when i swapped in:
1) celestion gh30 2) celestion greenback 3) celestion V30 4) scumback m75

I once had an early Uber with V30s/ Creambacks - this is my old Mark 2C+ Bogner vs the mid 90s VHT 412 2530
