The Nitro with EL34s is terrific. This amp has gone under the radar for me all these years unfortunately. Playing it reminded me a little of the Uberschall although I know they are very different amps. They are definitely different amps from different camps but boy is the Nitro and impressive beast. Who owns(ed) one or both? What is your evaluation of the Nitro?

I never played the nitro with el34's, but I have with kt77 & kt88.

I actually compared both directly to an Uber i used to own on different occassions. A buddy of mine was over and we had the kt77 one dialed in and sounding good and we were both digging it. Then we fired up the Uber and we both liked it much better. The other guitar player in my band at the time owned the one with kt88's. His kt88 one was better than my kt77 loaded one, but the Uber was still more to my preference. He preferred his nitro. Different strokes....

Honestly, I felt like the Uber and nitro were on opposite ends of the high gain spectrum. The nitro was dry, tight, & not overly saturated. The Uber is ultra saturated with a looser feel. Granted this was when the nitro first came out, so maybe they're a bit different now. Plus I'm sure the el34's soften the attack compare to the kt77 & kt88 loaded ones I played.

Yes I agree with what you said about the Nitro being tight and the Uberschall feeling looser. I think they also have some things in common such as a modded Marshall character, huge low end, and rather underwhelming clean channels that are great as a pedal platform. People seem to always prefer the Nitro with KT88s but I like it better with EL34s.

Nitro is based on a 4 gain stage 5150. Uber is a completely different animal.

I think I mentioned them being very different but there are some similarities that I described.
