I really liked the hot rodded marshall vibe of the channel 1. What I didnt like was the big difference in tone between ch1 and ch2.
Channel 2 was way darker and it seemed like it sounded somewhat distant compared to ch1....like if ch2 had a blanket over it or something.

The difference between ch1 and ch2 didnt sit well so I sold the amp. Ch1 on the twin jet was really nice though.

I have one with 6550s in it. I really like this amp and I like both channels. I dont understand the bad vibe people give this amp. Its a monster

Tell you what where ever I stick a mic in front of cab the twin jet always comes through! I like both channels, channel 1 is a great hot rodded Marshall. And pretty tight. Records like a champ! just sayin

I like it a lot. So much headroom and tightness, while still having that elastic feel that Bogners have. More of a players amp to me. There is noticeably less smear to the notes and more clarity and punch. It really does benefit from the bigger power section and the power amp controls. It stays together at volume with aplomb and records amazingly well for the type of amp it is. There's a lot of knobs to dial in and the treble pot has an unusual (but versatile) sweep, but once you get 'er - watch out!...

This is pretty much the same reason i sold mine. I loved channel 1, it was amazing. super aggressive and tight. I liked how brutal channel 2 was, but ch1 was where it was at for me. I always wanted to get a good balance between the two channels but it never worked out for me. I was also able to get a decent clean sound on my 1st channel but obviously a higher gain setting was where that channel was meant to be.

I wish bogner made a single channel amp with that twin jet 1st channel. It would be epic.

I loved mine, and retardedly sold it about 6 months ago. My short list of amp purchases in the near future are another TJ and rev green Uber.

I love mine. Not sure how old it is, I think it has the updated channel 1 (which I think is supposed to not be as clean but could be wrong about that). At first I was having problems balancing both channels as far as the master presence control, it would either be too bright on channel one or too dark on channel 2 (if that makes sense). I replaced the stock KT88s with Penta and that fixed everything. It is a really good high-gain amp. Amp is heavy (weight wise) as hell. -Jim

Jimo: The updated Channel 1 was only an adjustment to the taper of the pot to allow for lower gain when the control is in the lower ranges. It doesn't affect the overall level of gain for that channel.

I'd buy that amp in a heartbeat!

Cool, thanks for the info. Also another thing about this amp is on ch. 2 (even though its the higher gain channel) I've gotten some really killer tones with the guitar volume rolled down a bit.

Reza - it's a killer amp, but finicky to dial in. But once you get a tone you like, take pics of it.

Uber channel should sound good with these settings:
Channel Volume @ 9:00 or higher
Presence between 10:00-12:00
Treble around 11:00
Mid around 1:00
Bass around noon
Gain at noon

global depth at 3:00
global presence at noonish
global volume :D

the modded Marshall channel is an oddball to dial - but it's an awesome amp for sure. I want another one

It's an awesome amp. Very easy to play and record, it gets really aggressive and really loud. It holds together fantastically at high volumes. It's a lot more versatile than people give it credit for, you just have to take the time to dial it in.

That being said, the loop can be tricky to get enough volume out of.

Lots of great info! Mine is on the way. Will report back!

Cool, I think you'd dig it for your style of playing. I run mine with the master at noon thru the Torpedo Studio...Godlike! ;)
