Bogner XTC red mods

I love the growl you get from the XTC in a drop D AIC groove
But i am wondering how one could make it a bit tighter w more upper mid snarl kind of like a Mezzabarba

Is this possible and what to change ?

I have lowered the gain on my 1992 Bogner Xtcy 100B and used an SD-1 from early 80’s (using level only-clean boost) in front with amazing results!
Blue channel sounds ‘spot on AIC’ in my opinion.
Red is just MORE of everything - over the top goodness.

I boost the blue channel with an SD-1 and get a sound which is 100 times better than anything that’s come out of the red channel. Keep the treble low - around 0-2, crank the mids and bass (mids act as highs, bass acts like low mids). It’s the reason I keep that amp around.

I crank the snot out of the bass (8) for channel 2, the blue channel and then when you boost it with the SD1, (level only) it cuts some of the bass and of course tightens, so it balances out nicely…
