How do you guys run your XTC?
I played my XTC 100B today after a long spell on my Axe II. My old settings sounded way too dark. I ended up settling on the "bright" settings and cab in the middle. Sounded bright but in a good way, sorta like a cutting Marshall/Fender, no blanket in front of the cab sound. The red channel with the guitar volume rolled back is one of my all time favorite tones. Killer amp for sure. It's funny how you come back to an amp with fresh ears after a break.

For the blue channel:

Presence A knob pointing at your Excursion B Switch (M on Excursion A)
Treble & Middle knobs pointing at your Structure Switch (H)
Bass knob pointing at your Boost Switch
Gain knob pointing at the Input you're using
And using B1

20th XTC - favorite setting: power = on.

To the OP, dude, you're gonna have to just tweak it man. Given the fact the Axe-II will give you more high end than 'amp in the room' tones, you just need to re-train your ear. I know, I get this too - but there's no secret setting. I find where I left my EQ on whatever amp typically sounds right after a good 2 hour shit-kicking at higher volumes.

Just sayin'

I've actually owned the XTC for around eight years and I've tweaked it every way known. Last time I gigged with it I actually had the Variac on, but I keep shelving it because it can get dark sounding and hard to hear. Coming back to it the "Bright" settings are sounding best to my ears.
