call me crazy but I love watching his covers.Just got paid, still of the night...etc....I don't think I've heard a song that he's actually wrote. AND-if I get the chance...I would love to take my mother to one of his shows...

To answer the question in the title of this thread, I actually think Bonamassa is probably too normal and therefore his music isn’t that interesting to listen to. Great music tells an interesting story often times I think by guys who themselves went through stuff. Just my opinion
I’d love to hear more about what you mean here. Too normal? Dude was touring with Buddy Guy at like 10yrs old.

What tunes specifically are you talking about? And what other guitarists are you referencing that went through stuff?

I’ve listened to pretty much all of JBs stuff and the only EJ I ever hear is that sweep appreggio they both do really well.

I don‘t understand any of the ‘soulless’ comments honestly, out of JB and EJ if I had to tag one as soulless it would be EJ and it’s not even close.

I also don’t understand judging a musician by their clothes, sunglasses or attempts to market himself to support his family. JB gets good crowds, I’ve seen a half dozen shows maybe. Lotsa player hating here
I see, thanks!

You can’t deny the man has chops and he’s got a great work ethic, the guys always releasing new stuff, some good, some great. His last effort ( time clocks) was pretty good, some pink Floyd moments and a nice diverse album, dust bowl is quite good as well. I would echo most comments that in general his music is a bit middle of the Road.

as for his collection, the guy works so hard I don’t blame him for investing that money in some mighty fine guitar geeker. Don’t really care about how he’s dressed, I listen to the guy play guitar not judge his stage outfit.

Dude, you are taking all this shit way too seriously. The one thing funnier than the shit people will say about a celebrity are the one's who come and defend them, all up in their feelings, like they're related.

Does he bring his whole store to gigs?? Like if I want a bonamasa beach ball to throw around my in ground pool during a cocktail party can I purchase one there and save on shipping?

I just saw a vid how venues are making Merch sales not so profitable, unless they do an outside Kiosk. Which actually makes a lot of sense for a beach ball purchase. Tailgate next to the all new Bonamassa portable beach kit (sand for tallcoolone's vagina not included)....

....:poke:

I actually have a bunch of "his(?)" jewelry line including the flying v (arrow) through the heart necklace and some of the guitar earrings/bangles.
Not super quality but not junk, better than amazon MIC/mall kiosk... def gift-able to your music loving lady. The V necklace is my fav, wear it all the time. I actually have two, because I lost the first one and loved it so much I bought another, and then found the missing one later.
Joe comes off like the poster child blues accountant though.
Never got into him personally, but I know he can jam and has a very nice ($$$) collection.

Must be a TGP thing. I wouldn’t see him solo, but maybe at like a festival or G3
It’s definitely a TPG thing . Those people totally worship him . He can really play great but im not big in the songs . But there’s a type of people who just want the blues hero because it’s safe as they get older . It use to be Kenny Wayne but Joe took over

im surprised thats been a big topic lately, i remember some of my first shows at bigger clubs where the bands were telling people go to their van across the street to buy merch cause the venue wanted half or whatever, its certainly not a new thing like some of the articles ive read would make you think.

we did booty shorts for my old band and i remember they were gone the first show, i would have given joe a pair

Dude it’s a discussion forum, I‘m asking questions about an opinion someone thought was important enough to share. I can assure you I don’t take any of this ‘seriously’ but I do find people’s strong opinions about JB (and Meyer) fascinating.

his old stuff was better, imo. he can play his ass off, and if I had his money, i'd buy all the vintage I could find also. His new stuff doesn't do much for me but still a great player. I may be one of the weird ones, but I like the way he channels the EJ thing.

I don't think I have a strong opinion one way or the other. He has talent for days and can draw crowds and make a living out of it so props to him. I can't think of one song, melody or solo though :dunno:

He’s good at turning blues to green.
