Bonamassa pretty much owns Zakk Wylde here.

Damn, this thread is still going?

JB is an accomplished player with great straight forward technique that doesn't require gobs of gain. I like that about the guy. But Zakk in his prime had something to say. There's a few iconic Ozzy tunes from the Zakk Wylde era. I don't know of any JB iconic tunes, although I'm sure in that circle there are.

I've always loved this tune. Fairly standard Zakk licks, but at the time was bad assed. The chicken pickin' shit is pretty smoking even by today's standards.

It is a shame that I feel Zakk fell into a rut of just doing the same stuff over and over and not pushing the envelope like he did back in the day. I suppose a lot of guys fall into that rut. It makes them a comfortable living, but that desire to keep themselves pushing forward is lost.

I don't know what chicken pickin' skills JB has, but my impression is if the band had been playing some country ass backing, we'd be having a different discussion.

So what does that mean? Who's the betterer guitar player? Who owns who? OMG, my head might explode without a clearerer answer!!!!

That is some killer ownage bro....

Great playing.

No More Tears.

More people know that song and absolutely smoking riff, textbook lead work, than of all of the collected work of JB for his entire career.

ZW got off his track. Would be cool if he got back to it. Maybe he is happy, gasp, just chilling and playing. Vegas act in the works...

Yup.

The decades of concerts. TV appearances. Magazine covers. Back catalog and Zakk has influenced legions of guitar players. I love Joe, but Zakk is on another level.

To say otherwise just shows you live under a rock or are in complete denial.

What a tool.

Posting Zakk tunes is proving what?
I'm not sure, but being better than you would be one of them.

I play blues. Zakk obviously can't, to save his life.

Zakk plays metal. You obviously can't, to save your life.

Nor do I want to. I ever claim to play metal?  Jackass   I guess Zakk was playing "metal" in the JB jam clip?
When's the last time CAKK Wylde sold out the Royal Albert Hall? He's a washed up metal has-been hack. Joe made short work of this POS

Again with the Royal Hall. I'm guessing that's a real prime gig amongst the bluebloods
1 step up from cruise boat gig

What is it with Zakk? It's like he has that head cutting mentality, not even playing to the song and just the same 4 or 5 show off licks he's been doing forever. Joe completely outclasses him here.
Man if you look hard enough you'll see exactly what the problem is with Zakk's playing/sound. His effen amps are turned around backward!

Bonamassa rides on the shoulders of Giants!

Enjoy.

am I back in high school where it was against the law to like both Randy Rhoads and Eddie Van Halen and you had to choose sides? :)

Why do some, supposedly adults get all butt- hurt up off in here if someone says Zakk sucks or Bonamsaa sucks? I don't do the whole (boring as shit to me) blues rock thing but you don't see me tearing all the player apart saying they can't play shit just because I can't stomach the music. People can suck at times, yes even you heros have bad days and Zakk had a bad day on the OP original clip. It doesn't mean Zakk sucks or can't play a note, it means he should have stayed home that night.

time to let the little guy out of his room....
he has been in there all morning.

I loved Zakk, even up to and including the Live At Budokhan DVD...he rips on that...but he comes off like a retard every time he opens his pie hole and looks like he's forgotten how to shower and groom himself and it looks like he wears the same clothes every day. Times change. How many looks have EVH or Lynch gone through ? Would it kill Zakk to put on some blue jeans, a T shirt, some Chuck Taylor Converse sneaks and play a nice flame top LP once in a while ? What does he do when he goes to the beach ? Is he like those biker/metal chicks from the Y&T "Summertime Girls" video where he pours Quaker State on himself to tan ??? I mean, Jesus hard core ALL the time ? Lighten up Francis !

Man, i was going to say the same thing.

Zakk was a total MONSTER, he had it all IMO. I dont know wtf happened to him.

Here he gets taken to school by Warren Haynes...if you have trouble seeing it or understanding how, you have a long way to go as a player:

.

I don't get at all how you walked away from this with that impression. I see two highly developed players working very complimentary together. Neither "owned" the other...it was a great display of taste and playing together.

If Zakk never got the Ozzy gig he'd still be playing bars here in NJ.

How could any decent self-respecting rock guitarist not like this ... ???

Think its time for some to move on to the Gear Page.

Zakk 30 years ago w/ Ozzy is relevant to him talking it up the ass in a Bonamassa jam? LOL

More relevant than using anal sex to describe guitar solos as a competition

I thought his use of the pinch harmonic or "squeal" was in direct tribute to Ned Beatty in Deliverance
