Boost Pedal in the Loop, lets talk about solo boosting

So... I know that using a boost pedal in the loop of an amp will give you all the volume boost you would need for a live solo. I want to buy a new pedal to do just that.
I would like something that will also give me a nice warm liquidly sustain , something that might cut the treble a little, overall a bit dark and smooth but not muddy. I have a EH line level booster pedal which works but I want something that will offer a bit of an eq change for the better. The smaller size the better since I have limited space on my pedal board.

Thanks guys , I knew I could count on ya :D

Yep the old trusty rusty Boss GEQ is often used for this.

Ive had the best tone control and best luck with the TC. line booster dist+(original version), xotic rc booster, and the source audio programmable eq.

Overdrive pedal in the loop sounds awful

EQ pedal FTW

Ok cool...So a eq pedal will give enough volume boost ... As mentioned I'm also looking for a bit added sustain and maybe a little more compression ..Mxr 10band is too large in size...I guess mxr 6 band ? Any other eq or clean boost pedal recommendations ? I was thinking about buying a xotic rc booster originally.

You'll need an EQ with a slider for the overall level. I'm not sure that the MXR 6 band has that.

Depends on the loop - whether it takes pedals well or needs a line level. I ended up using a Morley little alligator active volume pedal and it worked great. Plus it was nice to be able to smoothly go into volume boosts instead of rhythm LEAD rhythm if that makes sense.

You could also make a passive reverse boost pedal - basically a volume knob and two jacks so when it's on you have less volume (rhythms) and when it's off you have a nice volume boost for leads.

I've used a ZVEX SHO and a Seymour Duncan Pickup Booster. They both worked great. But an EQ will work great too.

The RC would work.

TC Electronics Spark Mini works great!
Extremely transparent.

I personally liked the EP booster much better than the RC......
Maybe personal preferance but it just suited my needs more...

koko boost is perfect for this and i would imagine it would run quieter.

Cool I was just looking into this pedal..It's small which I like..I am looking at this aswell as the exotic ep and the mooer clean boost all are small in size but I want whichever will be the warmest while not sacrificing clarity.

Koko in the loop can be good.

But I run a compressor in there as my solo boost. Barber Tonepress has a blend knob I set it at noon. Any other quality comp with a blend knob should work. Downside is it can get noisy.
Try it out.

Otherwise a decent EQ is fool proof.

Just got one of these. Holy smokes! Talk about BOOST... Amazing little pedal.

Xotic SP Compressor , only problem was stepping on the little pedal I kept hitting the knobs.
Works great as a boost in the loop and helping out for solo's

EP boost didn't work right in my loop...not designed for that level signal. At least in my XTC 20th it didn't work. Creation Audio 4.23 boost is what I ended up with although Suhr IsoBoost was close second
