All I can say is WOW!. I pulled the gain back on my Triple and hit it with a clean boost from a Fulldrive II Mosfet and the tone is some of the best hard rock tone I've ever heard in my life. Just magic. Amazing

I ran my new Stratocaster with my new Aldrich bridge humbucker and I cannot believe how incredible the tone is! I may just become obsessed with that pickup. I need to get another one ASAP!

A boosted Recto is a beautiful thing Ron.
My Single sounds so rich and mean when boosted in vintage mode.

I miss my wreck. I hit it with a Lovepedal Eternity for crispier tones or my fav, the BB+ for the juiciest hard rock tones!

i've become addicted to boosts recently after playing around with a few, i usually have one set always on, and have another OD afterwards if i need an extra kick =0

actually use a BB preamp in a 'clean' boost mode, and i really dig my Homebrew uno mos booster on my other board

and i forgot, using an EQ pedal at home as a mid boost with a level boost into a blackstar ht-5 , sounds righteous

I'M WITH YOU 10000000000%

My stock 1998 2 channel recto on the orange mode with an OD-9 and my Charvel so-cal with duncans is 80's heaven. Will not sell the amp EVAR.

Most peeps around here just can't comprehend or are interested in talking about killer tone that comes from somthing that costs under 3-4k or that's not modded and takes 6+ months of your life to have someone work on it and then mail it back to you.

I'm on the Vintage mode 2nd channel. It has a great heft, but also a real cool Metallica Boogie tone to it.

Great tone.

Agreed, but it's not as though it's a cheap rig! Pretty pricey.

I have read about so many people boosting a Recto and I always thought it didn't need it, it's not about needing it, it's just another way to go about it. For me it's what the boost does o the EQ. So cool. Hard to explain.

I love the Aldrich pickup in my les Pauls, but never tried it in my strat. Do you have 250k or 500k pots on your strat?

There is a 500k in there. I just roll the tone pot on the neck pickup back a little to about 7 or 8 and it's good.

I paid about $1,100 for my dead mint 98 T-Rec... Not enough to even qualify it as an amp around these parts, let alone the fact that it is stock...

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this thread. I was looking for a little more.....something....from my Triple Rec but never thought about rolling back the gain and adding a boost. Can you guys give me some opinions on a good boost pedal to try out? Thanks!!

I am with you guys 100 percent on this. Got a 3 channel dual....run a clean boost from a Timmy Clone pedal.
Anderson Guitar with Aldrich pickups....and DAMN if its not a face melting tone!!
I barely tweak the settings and go from Classic rock to Metal and it all sounds fantastic.

I've seen many guys here using the Maxon OD-9, BB Preamp, Fulldrive II. I'm sure a real clean boost like a Keeley Katana would be great too.

I'm really loving the clean side of the Fulldrive II Mosfet. It has a HUGE amount of clean boost. It's unreal.

My TS-808 sounds great with it as well even with the mid hump.

it's funny, as someone that loves to boost high gain amps myself, it's ridiculous how people try to look down there nose at you for boosting, like it's a bad thing. You always see threads about people asking why anyone would need to boost, good amps don't need one, blah blah blah... yet, you never see people that boost bashing people that don't. Seems like guys that boost don't give a crap what other people do to get their sound. It's hard to beat it into their head that it isn't always about need, just a different tool in the arsenal for achieving a certain sound and feel.

Buy an OD-9 and you will thank me L8tr... I have tried out several BB xotic, keely modded, etc, and this one seems to be the "sound in my head" Use with a ISP decimater for best results.

I have an Uber TJ and a Rivera KT, and using a boost (Jetter) is just another way to get more tone. Neither amp lacks gain... It's the versatility.

Why anyone would want to bash versatility makes no sense.

There's definintely a mindset out there among some that if you have to boost an amp to get your sound/tone than the amp/design is flawed somehow.

Or that boosting amps classified as high gain means there is a design flaw and only medium gain amps should be boosted.

Or that you shouldn't have to boost a high gain amp over a certain price point, and if you do than the amp design is flawed.

I've boosted in all those scenario's listed above.
