Dammit.....
I just ordered one as well.

Justification was I spent that much close on a Pedal.
So I am not sweating this. Seems like a cool product.
And also got a small discount thru Sweetwater :D

Going to replace my Practice amp in the house.
Yeah it sucks....but there's a solution I found(expensive but quality) that would require modding the amp to speaker wires a bit:
https://www.suhr.com/electronics/tone-t ... -line-out/

It would give you a clean, no speaker emulated line out safely.

Ordered that Y box that the game listed above.
Will be able to play it with the full stack that way.

Ok...those of you who already have one, which one did you buy (head or combo, if combo which one), and what (primarily) are you playing on it (80s LA, thrash, etc...) ? I'm REALLY interested in one, but some of the clips online are meh and some are fantastic...
Get the head. I had the 50 watt combo and thought it was pretty weak. Just for the hell of it right before I packed it up I hooked it up to my 4x12. It sounded MUCH better. Considered keeping it but figured if anything I would get the head.

Mine comes tomorrow. Will report back asap. I'll be able to run it through a 74 GB cab, early 800 cab w/75s, a Slash cab, a V30 cab and a Mesa 2x12 wEVs.

So, did you download the software first to your computer and upload anything to your amp? I thought I read that is key...

Damnit guys! I haven't had gas for an amp since slimming the herd down to my Cherry Bomb and Mark IIC+.

Well, now I do :gethim:

I haven't done any research beyond reading this thread, but I want to try one.

Does this thing come with a footswitch or is it midi switchable?

Does it have an effects loop? I like a MXR 10band in the loop of just about any amp I play.

Thanks.
T

100w head has FX loop, no fsw but there are a few available, not sure but I think the midi option is there. It will put out 100w at 8 ohms, and 50w with a 16 ohm cab. Power scaling too.

  my brief research....if you're happy with out if box you d/l nothing. I believe the software has a bazillion different Boss pedal options.

That is why I avoided the AXE and the Kemper.
I don't want to be hooking the amp up to a computer!!

I recommend playing the amp for a couple of days before screwing with the computer software. It sounds great straight out of the box. However, if you want to take advantage of all the pitch-shifting, harmonizing, modulation, reverbs, etc... you'll need to hook it up to the computer.

It's easy though because you basically have 4 presets on the amp which you can switch between using the preset buttons. Then each channel has 3 effects slots which you can assign any type of effect or overdrive/distortion. If you are on one channel and want to switch from tube screamer to Muff, then you just push the button to change the mode color. There are three colors, so that would mean 3 types of overdrives/distortions you could assign to each channel.

You don't need a footswitch to do that basic stuff, but it's definitely worth getting one in a live situation. Look at the price we're talking about here though. $350 for the head is a killer deal compared to the Friedmans and Bogners we constantly discuss on these forums. You have your choice of footswitches, but I haven't got around to that yet.

I've only used the software just once to setup my channels the way I like. I bought the head just to use as a desktop unit for practice and recording. It's a hell of a lot of fun to play. You're still going to plug into your tube amp and be like "damn, there ain't nothing like a tub amp," but you won't want to get rid of the Katana because it's so much fun and so useful for many things.

Ya the editing really is for effects more than the tone. You can tweak the tone but it really isn't necessary IMO
