I ordered the head from Sweetwater today also, rep said I was the fourth order he took for it today.
 
GC has a 15% off coupon for anything over 199, head is looking like a great deal !
 
Really impressed with some of the clips out there for this amp!

 
Is a noise gate one of the FX you can download? Seems crazy that it didn't come with any noise suppression.

I wasn't sure if the NS2 was an option in the loadable effects. That's awesome then. I like my high gain to be quiet.
 
I've been messing with the head for almost 2 months. I love this thing. It sounds great!! It's definitely not overloaded with useless features and amp models. It's stripped down, and easy to get you where you want within seconds. If you can't quite get there messing with the knobs, just fire up the editor to add what's needed.

Yeah. In fact it's its own slot after reverb on the software. You don't load it up as an effect. You have to hook up to the software to turn it on and tweak it, but it's there
 
So we used the Katana for a show last night. Funny how ppl were so intrigued n didn't even know what it was. Fired it up and the questions started. It was fkn awesome ... ran into a Marshall 4x12 mic'd w a 57. Literally all great compliments. Volume ha. Could have crushed everyone. It's crystal clear n cuts like a knife.

Definitely recommend!

Will do man. It's still boxed up. Been busy the last few days.
But off today and tomorrow. Gonna fire it up later. :D
 
Got mine on Friday. It won't replace my favorite tube amps, or any good tube amp IMO. But, it's very tubelike and as Cujo said has plenty of power and cut. The feel is as good as any high buck modeler IMO, and for 350 its really a steal of a deal.

As a quality backup to your main rigs, or as your main amp it is a good sounding amp period. With the tone, built in effects, portability, tweaking possibilities it really is a no brainer steal of a deal IMO.

And I have played some tube amps that were very 'meh' sounding at best..I'd take the Katana over them for sure.
 
Why is the 100w head more epensive than the 100w combo?

Also, any features lacking on the 50w other than wattage?

It seems like Roland is really winning over some tube aficionados lately between the Katana and updated Blues Cubes.
