Why is the 100w head more epensive than the 100w combo?

Also, any features lacking on the 50w other than wattage?

It seems like Roland is really winning over some tube aficionados lately between the Katana and updated Blues Cubes.

MIDI capability

Missing Presence control and only has two channels

I concur

I'm curious about the internal speaker. What's everyone take on this? I'm looking for the Katana to replace my Line 6 Flextone III combo that I use for practice around the house. I would also like to take it to the beach house and use just the internal speaker and headphone out.

Same here. I want this to replace my Yamaha thx amp for indoors.
Maybe I should open it up and play it.
Just been a long tiring weekend.

The internal speaker works. That is all i can say about it really. It's good enough to screw around on. No low end really. Not terrible. Not great.

I had a Flextone 15 yrs ago as a backup, this Katana is light years better tone wise.

Ah thanks I looked over those when comparing the panels. I noticed the presence knob but not the additional presets and MIDI.

Will having a midi pedal allow you to have more than 4 presets?
From what I read you can also turn on and off each effect via midi. I have a Liquid foot pro in the classifieds now that I used for my rack that I recently sold. Looks like I'm going to pull the listing and use it with the Katana. Seems I was going to take a beating on it anyway. Bought it for about $1000 and can't give it away for $400.

I got the foot pedal for it. It's nice preset/fx stomp. Works flawless

Has anyone tried one of the combo versions? Seems like it would be pretty cool for small venues, and practicing at home? Or is it better as a head and small cab?

Wondering the same thing.

Annnnd...post a picture of the footswitch if ya please.

I tried to play through one of the combos, but as soon as I plugged into it some asshole kids came in the store. 3 kids grabbed strats off the wall, plugged into some new silverface Fenders cranked and did the worst SRV rip offs I've ever heard. Couldn't hear the Katana with my face 6 inches from it. I grabbed the PRS I was playing at went to the other side of the store, sans Katana. I'll go back and give it a whirl soon. They seem really cool. I'd love to have one based on word of mouth alone.

The Katana comes with stickers to change the footswotch layout. Bring its used for other Roland amps.

Got mine on Friday. It won't replace my favorite tube amps, or any good tube amp IMO. But, it's very tubelike and as Cujo said has plenty of power and cut. The feel is as good as any high buck modeler IMO, and for 350 its really a steal of a deal.

As a quality backup to your main rigs, or as your main amp it is a good sounding amp period. With the tone, built in effects, portability, tweaking possibilities it really is a no brainer steal of a deal IMO.

And I have played some tube amps that were very 'meh' sounding at best..I'd take the Katana over them for sure.

THIS. played one at sweetwater yesterday.
