I like the drives. The best ones Ive used so far are the Natural OD, Rat, and Warm OD. The boosts are equally as good. I kinda like using the treble booster on a darker amp like an XTC.cecilbag":1wrjfn34 said:

I find a good deal of the preset patches to be quite fun to play. In terms of drive, the Natural OD and the T-Scream settings I think sound very good to my ears so far. I just picked up a Diezel VH4 pedal and a Bogner La Grange to put in the loops along with my Keeley Dark Side. Also just got a Bogner New Yorker combo as a clean platform. I'll try and post some new rig photos soon and a more in depth review of the pedal. So far I'm really digging it and as above, really thinking of ditching my big rig as I think two lower wattage amps and this new board Im constructing with the MS-3 can cover my needs...

Well after spending some time with this pedal, I have to say, it works really well for what I needed. The effects sound pretty good. I can't say they're super lush like an Eventide etc... put they do a very good job. The drives, sound really good too, but I don't really need them as the Paul has all the dirty sounds covered. Seamless switching via midi. For the money , you can't go wrong with this. It certainly gets two thumbs up from me.

Man, this thing seems perfect for live use as well as a quick little home practice rig. It really nullifies the modeler vs tube amp argument in my eyes. If simplicity and rig size matters then just get the MS-3 and a small midi channel-switching tube amp. Done.
I was thinking about going AX-8 for practice and small gigs but now I'm thinking about just using this with my 50w EVH (which hasn't been getting much use recently).

Oh, one more thing. I've heard some people complaining that the MS-3 doesn't have delay/reverb spillover/trails in it's effects when switching patches. But I'm torn about that comment. See, the only way you're going to get spillover on even a standalone pedal is if it ISN'T true-bypass. So it's all a tradeoff. I mean, you can't get true-bypass if you want spillover or trails.
The other way to get spillover when doing traditional tap dancing, is to switch to a different channel on the amp, for example, when switching from an overdriven part of a song, into a clean verse, and turning off the delay AFTER you started the verse. But even that isn't perfectly clean.

Are most just using it as a multi FX unit? I'd like to get something small, I just use modulation, delay, chorus, and reverb, primarily. Maybe flange and phaser. Seems like a solid deal to replace my RP1000. I'm just tired of the larger footprint, and the effects are just a tad better than average. Great unit for a complete backup rig, the modeling is pretty good, but I dont use it.

I still have mine and run it with both my JP-2C and my Mark V 25 (obviously one at a time!). The midi switches the JP-2C when I am using that and the relay out switches my V25. I only have one pedalboard now so I set up the first few banks for the JP-2C, then next few for the V25 and the other banks I use in an emergency if the amp goes down. I use the built in distortions (they are actually quite decent) into the return line of the Waza TAE and out to FOH if either amp has an issue and I can't fix it in time. Thankfully has not happened yet. It has been very reliable on all gigs!
