The MIJ is a lot smoother and clearer. The MIT seems darker. Both sound good.

I thought something along those lines. I thought the MIT was more aggressive and modern-sounding. The MIJ was smoother and clearer like you said.

The big difference for me was the feel. The MIJ feels more fluid, while the MIT feels stiffer... Not sure that makes any sense...
unless my speakers are fried, there is a big difference between the two. the MIJ actually sounded less gainy then the MIT and the MIT definitely sounded more agressive. all IMHO of course but both sounded good!

Bingo! I thought the same thing...

But seriously, there's definitely an audible difference between the two. Which is "better" is a matter of preference, of course.

I agree. I've read where people say they were identical. While the differences aren't necessarily like night and day, there is a definite difference.

Eh... for $48 how can one go wrong... :D

I listened to the 2 of them when I first recorded them... I heard the MIT SD-1 and said... "Matt's gonna like this better!"

+1 - I'd be curious to hear how different they sound if you either turn down the level on the MIT, or add a bit of gain on the MIJ.

Ok, so for this afternoon im sober and reading it correctly now. You said sd-1 not ds-1. I have both and I know whatever version sd-1 I have kills with the DSL. Time to pull out the ds-1 that I have had for 25 years and see how it does lol.

either they don't get along with my amp or I don't know how the fuck to apply them! I'm thinking I don't know how to fucking apply them

I think you just like going straight to the amp... There's nothing to apply! LOL! :D
Set the amp to a good crunch then set the pedal to like 100% level, tone at 10:00, drive at 10:00. That's how I set both the OD808 and SD-1. To me, it sounds great with both the sl and the qr.

I'm with Ralph here. Big difference in the sound. The MIJ isn't nearly as gainy as the MIT and the MIT is darker and more aggressive for sure. I actually like the MIT better for my applications.
