what is evryone's opinion on it. would this be a decent choice in front of my mesa rk2. my buddy gave me his and i am curious how it compares to other ods.

For me it's always been the 'go to' boost, although I have been using the Keeley modded one for years now. A very solid pedal IMO, and they are cheap.

well if your buddy gave you his, haven't you tried it out, or do just wanna make sure that everyone here likes it, than you will like it

Keeley modded is ok, stock is very scratchy with tons of bass cut and not a lot of boost.

It is good, but it is brighter, and more crunchy than an 808 type.

I ran an SD-1 for many years. Its a blast to mod too. There are tons of mods for the SD-1 out there on the net.

Great cheap OD pedal. Set your amp darker and cleaner than you usually do and kick in the SD-1. Loads of fun.
The MIJ version from years back is a bit smoother than the MIT version.

The SD-1 was Reb Beach's choice boost for all of his solos on the Winger and Dokken records. His website has info from him that he used it with any amp he was using to boost for solos/sustain.

I've got an old MIJ Turbo Overdrive that doesn't work anymore. Uncle gave it to me when I was like 8 years old. It's beat to shit

I'd like to mod it this winter. Get it working again first of course, heh. I found some mods online, I'll post the link here when I get home from work.

Not sure about the Mesa, but with a Marshall JCM800? :inlove:

thx all. Marshall law... i did try it but it's the only Od pedal i have ever tried. I was just curious to see what everybody else thought of it. it's working out pretty well! you cant beat free anyways!

In stock form, it has this odd sounding treble thing going on. It's a good pedal, but I prefer other one's for high gain boosting. They do work well with Rectos though IMO.

My favorite OD, with the BOSS Blues Driver a close second. If you want a truly smashing tone, run a Tube Screamer into the SD-1 into a Plexi or JCM 800.

I do that for solo's.

Guitar > Keeley TS-9 Baked > SD-1 > JCM800. :inlove:
