nice axe olaf. you could always pull a mike rutherford and sit on a stool when you play a paul. in fact les does that too!
i know what you mean about the wife thing though. my wife said i couldn't buy another axe or amp until i get a band together that goes out and gigs regularly enough to pay for it.. so i've been tweaking gear instead.
enjoy the axe!
Thanks my friends - I can't wait to get the curly. The custom is awesome, plays like a dream, installed the chrome stuff yesterday, looks way cooler of course (I hate gold harware)
No mirror pickguard though, I hope John forgives me
The curly also came in. Beautiful guitar, frets are still good, neck is straight, needs some cleaning though (humidity in Japan must be a problem me thinks). New pickups already ordered, not sure about the tuners though - these Klusons are so damn crappy
My neighbour (a pro with a record deal) got his 2nd Edwards too last week. He already had a "standard custom", a kind of curly lemon-light-cherry thing with EMGs anniversary pickups. A real beauty. He then ordered a Sykes model, which is really nice too. Of course it looks a bit "cooler" than my 98nitro, but other than the full poly paint job both are pretty much the same. Its white binding fits the chrome hardware a bit better and those Duncans SH6 scream. Very nice axe . . .
Time was too short to make a fair comparison if there's a difference in resonance between my nitro and his poly (and I've installed a "more sophisticated" bridge too).
Are you selling the old one with gold screws and other crap that comes with it? I need one for my Orville
I've been messing with Sykes model for a week now. Very cool, but not really on the level of 98LTC IMO. SH6s are fine, not my favorite I have to be honest. Sykes is a perfect axe for a modern metal player, if you want more vintage vibe - forget about it. I really wish it came with SH4s instead or at least SH5s. It does look nice.
Unfortunately I cannot sell it, if I should ever sell her again, you know . . .
Yeah, fo harder stuff, thats for sure, although I'm a big fan of the SH6. With a push-pull and splitted you'll get an amazing clean sound from them IMO.
