...Seeing quite a bit of gear going for a lot lower than it would have a year or 2+ years ago. Anyone else notice? ...Buyer's market?

People are starting to go digital

Ugh... I know. I keep looking at going digital like with a Headrush with Patches or even just the preamp pedals through a Two Notes Cab-M. I am just so used to feeling my amp on stage. I can't imagine a powered speaker/FRFR giving me the same joy, ha!

I sold my last tube amp a few weeks back. I’m using a hx stomp into headrush frfr. I’ve never been this happy with my tone.

Examples?

Friedmans going for much less than they were a year ago; probably took the biggest hit. Even 6-8 months ago. Mezzabarba's, some JP2Cs, Diezel. Mostly what I'm seeing in the RT Classifieds.

But man, did things need to settle out. Look at the prices that Fortins have been going at for the past few years and tell me there was no correction that needed to happen to the market?

Nobody likes to take a loss on an "investment." However, I think people have to wrap their heads around the fact that the thing that they paid $4500 for a few years ago is now worth $2500 to people, and they may have to take a big loss to move it, or enjoy the long stay that item will have in their inventory.

Friedman had a couple of new models come out, like the BE Deluxe and JJ Jr. In general I wouldn't use one forum's classifieds to judge the overall value of something.

Yup, I've been guilty of it as well.

I should have added Reverb as well. ...Either way, I feel like it's a buyers market.

Prices fall when things are no longer in fashion. And when production is high enough to meet demand.

i havent taken the digital plunge yet either, though i have been saying for 2020 i need to get with the times and get a kemper/axe/helix to at least try out.

I am downsizing and noticed that so far my guitars and pedals have sold, but my amps have not been moving. I don't even have boutique amps that I am selling, just a Fender Bandmaster reverb and Marshall 2553.

My long term plan is to go ampless and just go Kingsley preamp -> two notes cabM -> PA. I see any solutions where you have no stage volume the wave of the future, whether they are digital, tube, or a hybrid....

Man I have a modded Marshall and an Orthos but I find myself using the HX Stomp a lot more than I expected. I bought it mainly to use for effects but it has a couple models on there that I really love playing. I had a Kemper and never bonded with it but I was using a power amp and a cab with it. I tried the Headrush FRFR but still didnt enjoy it as much as an amp. For some reason though the Stomp just suits me.

As far as Friedman I imagine a lot of JJ100 owners figured out they could just sell their amp get a JJ Jr. and still be relatively happy. As much as I adore my Orthos Im really tempted to go ahead and sell it then just use my KSR Ceres.

And if Im being honest with myself I need to quit lusting over 3000 amps and start worrying more about playing better.

If I still gigged, I'd consider an AX8 or Kemper..last time I lugged my amp, 4x12, guitars to a gig 2 yrs ago I was sore the next day lol. Never used to.
That said, no way I'd be happy with just a modeler. I have to have that push, feel of a good tube amp at my disposal. Even at low volumes it's still more rewarding to my ears than the AX8 I had last year. I'll keep my 2 tube amps, 4 cabs, power amp and 3 rack FX and enjoy the hell out of it for yrs to come.

I still see many high buck amps listed for high bucks on Reverb, Ebay etc...here not so much but the amps you listed, some just don't command that much..JP will go for 1700 on the low end, Mezzo will take a HUGE hit unfortunately, they are killer but don't hold value. Friedmans, everyone wants the newest version and are waiting till they come up used, the older versions go for MUCH less than they used to. Wizards, Camerons, SLOs, C+s still command the same resale with the SLOs jumping through the roof, more than original purchase price.
That's what I've seen at least.

Could have fooled me. Most prices I see of late are ridiculously high.

Amen, i need to push my tubes LOUD.

I’m totally gassing for one of Heinrich Hermansson’s amps !!! The clips sound killer. His own amp will be 4 channels with MIDI, 100 watts, with a tube compressor circuit on the first 2 channels. Can’t wait !!! No modeler is going to do that for me IMO...

But few if any people are moving gear at those inflated prices. The market is saturated, supply far exceeds demand.

Depends on WHICH amp/guitar you are talking about. When I see a loaded C+(GEQ, Reverb) if it's priced accordingly..2500 for a 60w, 3-4K for a 100/Simul, they usually sell rather quickly. The non GEQ will sit and sit...and they are asking GEQ type prices.
A vintage Marshall, say a 72 ptp with no mods, for 2500-3k and it will sell. When they ask silly prices like 4K they sit. Now, an original 81-83 JCM 800 will go for 1500 as will a JMP master volume from 76-80...those have jumped UP in price and are selling for that. So, for me at least the prices have stayed the same for much of what I am interested in, and even gone up in some cases(SLO, Cameron). So I really don't see the buyers market at all for amps that I would be interested in, at least.

Vintage pointy Charvels have gone up as well...a real deal early/mid 80s USA with a Kahler, just a couple yrs ago you could buy one for 1K or less. Now, 1500 for a Kahler...and 2500 or more for a Floyded version. Those were under 2K not too long ago.
