I just checked the auction, to see the amp itself, after reading the comments in this post.

There is large statement in the listing, that says "ALL YOU RIG TALK PEOPLE NEED TO GET A LIFE....."

So I am guessing that the seller doesn't like "informed buyers", for some reason ?

Yea maybe it was me that pissed him off by posting this thread and being a wise ass, but i don't really give a rats ass. I was trying to prove a point of how Mark has been back dooring amps while guys like me are still waiting for years and fed the same line of crap... Let the auction holder change places with me or some of the other guys waiting, then tell me to get a life.

And what makes that amp worth $2499 buy it now ? a 50 watt mod with no loop or really any features? come on seriously, the amp probably has about $25 dollars of parts in it, I'm not saying it doesn't sound good, im sure it does! but if that amp is worth $2500 then i can only imagine would i should ask for my Cameron 100 watt ground up 1959 plexi ALDRICH with 2 channel footswitchable mod, fx loop, bass boost, rotary switch, push pulls on bass and mid control, 3 way zener clipping switch, gain style control, fx send leve control, 2 masters 2 preamp gain controls, and more!... get my point??

but whatever its a free country he can ask whatever he wants for the amp, and it isn't my business, and i never meant to interfere with his auction or him, this isn't about the auction or amp or the seller at all, it's about shedding some light on all the amps getting back doored.

My question is this:

If "aftermarket" and third-party modificaiton to other things (like cars) actually bring the value of something down, then why does a modified guitar amp somehow demand a premium? Just as you pointed out, there's only about $25 worth of additional parts and maybe $50 of labor into an amp like the one in the auction. Just because Mark Cameron touched it, it somehow appreciates in value?

Even if it does sound good, it's just one of those things that blows my mind.

Let me clarify the seller has no idea who Mark Cameron is or the drama, he got this head on a trade. He is a well known gear dealer in LA and deals mostly with vintage Rock Star owned stuff, he is a stand up dude. Before the Brad King deal I hooked Mark up with a well known band who was rehearsing, getting ready for a major tour the head tech took three amps over their to get done. Somehow the seller got this one in on a trade. The seller does not know of Mark or has done any business with Mark directly.

I know I sent a few people here PMs of what went on behind the scenes regarding this head but that is all I can say on a public forum. Its legit head and it sounds killer.

well it's all the supply & demand thing! when you have only so many cameron-modded amps avail at any given time up for sale, but 50 guys want one BAD,the price is gonna go up bigtime ;) ...it's like the whole housing boom a few years ago where people were out bidding each other 100,000k or more over the appraised value of a home, then paying it! ....can you say DUM

Perhaps the price reflects on paying the money and actually receiving the amp
