I buy guitars like I buy cars… American and Japanese.
I buy amps like I buy guns.. vintage.

We don't all have to be singers! No MIC, that's about it for me.
Made in China, sorryWe don't all have to be singers!
I know. I have 1 MIC guitar, it's a 1994 Squire. I had to do some work to the neck. I play it in drop E, everything a step up dropped. I love it.Made in China, sorry![]()

I have no issue with things being made there as far as quality concerns or anything like that. I just don't like the idea of spending money to eventually be taxed by a government using it to build a military force to use against us and our allies. I know it's mostly impossible to get by with buying Chinese built goods, so I'm not trying to say I don't. I just don't when I have a choice. Used, mostly fine. That's crazy though, I didn't know MIC was a thing that far back with Squier.
Drop E though? Check out Rondo music sales on their 8 string+ Agiles. They've kept me from buying a GOC.
Squier. Epiphone. Bugera. Line 6.Any older guys here still have prejudices about brands in the back of your mind? In the past, I would have never thought about owning something with Squier, or Epiphone, on it. They sometimes have the reputation of brands for beginners. A guitar with any brand name can be set up better or have great pickups installed. What about you? What brands come to mind? I may be wrong, but it seems younger players are more concerned about features, and quality parts, rather than brand reputation. That's a good thing.
It is accurate thoughOne time about a dozen years ago at a blues jam I saw a guy playing a PRS barefoot on stage so I assume anyone who plays PRS is also gay for Mayer and Carlos so I guess that would be my brand prejudice.
Same...also it didn't help that 20 years ago I could get an 80's Japanese made Burny or Greco for the same price as a used Epiphone...and the quality difference is night and day.I'm guilty of a few, and haven't let go of avoiding Epiphone & Squier for those reasons. Over more recent years I've gotten to equate LTD guitars to budget-minded Metallica fans.
See, those are my go-to ?I'll take this chance to knock the holy trinity of gear brands,,,,,,Gibson, Fender, and Marshall.
Just not for me.
