Where can I find one of those dull brass knobs for a Charvel?

eBay, Reverb, and if members the classified on JCF or USACHARVELs forums

I can find aged chrome, but not aged brass. Stewmac and all parts have aged chrome.

Still coming up dry. Just sent Chubtone a pm, he's putting them on his guitars. Thanks for the suggestions.

Aging brass is super simple. I use a piece of window screen and a small sealable container. Pour in a little vinegar in the small container, put the screen inside suspended above the vinegar. Put the part you want tarnished in and close the lid. Monitor the piece to determine how tarnished you want it to get. Done!

Dave, this will work with a shiny gold brass knob?

It has to be brass without any protective coating. If there is a coating, try using nail polish remover with acetone to remove the finish. The acetone with tarnish the piece a little as well.

Cool tip! Aged brass is such a cool look.

I tried dunking a few gold knobs is Acetone for an hour, and it had zero effect. I can assume that they weren't actually brass?

Acetone should have some type of effect and remove any clear coat, etc. I have no idea what is happening in your situation. Maybe gold plated brass or pot metal?

I replaced mine with a black knob, thought the brass was fugly. I didn't know they were a thing. maybe I should put it on ebay.

That's what I'm thinking. Gold plated something or another.

I replaced one on a used San Dimas I bought a while back. If I can locate it tonight I'll PM you for a an address and mail it to you if you want. Lord knows I won't be using it. Don't think I would have thrown it out.
