I really don't have an issue with the DOD accepting it. It does make sense financially for the DOD to accept the gift. Nothing illegal about it and no extra burden on the taxpayers while a new Air Force One is being built. Though the Qatar plane shouldn't be called Air Force One. Name it something else. Any plane with the moniker of Air Force One should always be "American Made."

This is almost certainly not going to happen, but Trumps entertaining it to piss Netanyahu off. At least that's been the explanation I've heard from various independent pundits.
There is no way in hell any president would use some foreign acquired plane as his transport, it's political theater to send a message.
