Which TA bridge pickup you think would be similar in terms of tone and power to a bridge Suhr Aldrige?

Thanks for the response. The reason I ask is because I have an H3 in a TA Drop Top Classic (alder body with maple cap, maple neck/board and Floyd Rose trem) and the guitar sounds "lifeless". I have a new set of elixir string and still the pickup sounds like I have put a blanket over my guitar cab. I use a Friedman Marsha amp and the distorted tones I get from the pickup are "muddy". On the other hand, I have Suhr Standard (basswood body, maple cap, roasted maple neck/board and Gotoh floyd trem) with an Aldrich in the bridge osition and the guitar smokes thru the Friedman Marsha. The articulation and power you get from the Aldrich are fantastic. I dont know if the difference has to do with the body woods, but I´m looking to replace the H3 I have on my TA and would like to give TA pickups one more chance before venturing into another guitar pickups brand.

Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have heard the H2 is completely different. I AB'd and Aldrich and an H3+ and the Aldrich was as you posted compared. The H2 might be worth a shot.

I didn't think any Anderson PUPs sounded like an Aldrich. The H3 sounds much darker and compressed and the H2 has a bit less output and balls all together.

That´s logical and in a sense what I was afraid of. I know I can always put an Aldrich on the TA, but wanted to give Anderson pickups another shot before considering changing brands. I guess I will order an Aldrich.

I went throught the exact thing only to find out that the Andersons just weren't for me. I'm a big Aldrich fan though. :D

l love how the Aldrich sounds on basswood. I wonder if the tones would be similar on an alder bodied guitar.

cant give opinion on comparison but i love the H2+.. perfect pickup in my opinon... not too hot not too weak.

You can try the H2+. It has a little more bite to it than the H3, but it's still a fairly powerful pickup. The difference isn't like night and day, however. It still sounds like an Anderson pickup. If you really like the Aldrich, try putting one in the Anderson.

That´s were I´m headed right now. Aldrich bridge pup in my Anderson Drop Top Classic.

The Aldrich has a very different midrange than the typical Anderson H-series humbuckers, so I´d wager that the closest one is whichever is the hottest HN they make. HN3 or HN3+, I suppose.

I have read various "dissapointing" reviews on the HN3, HN3+, so I think I will go with the Aldrich. I´m also very curious about the BKP brand, but they are expensive and I would not want to gamble with what it will be an expensive pickup purchase.

FWIW- I've never liked an Anderson with an H3 bridge; H2+, or H2 will open it up considerably.

I currently have a Basswood/Maple Suhr with the Aldrich bridge, and it's a good combo; no idea how that translates to Alder

That what I have too, Suhr Standard with basswood/maple combo and Aldrich pups and it sounds incredible.

First off I would swap pickups around on both guitars that will give you a much better idea at no cost.
I own a Marsha, a Baswood TA DT Classic, as well as H2, H2+ and H3. I too find the H3 too dark it is very compressed. The H2+ is a lot more open and 'classic' sounding (which is the one I use). The H2 does not have enough output for me. What speakers are you using?

The H series pups are very spiked in the mids. Especially the Hn3. I've had both the hn3 and the hn3+. Currently have a h2+ and it's my favorite bridge bucket so far for hard rock. I liked the hn3 the least because it had a ton of upper mids. Anderson wouldn't be my first choice for organic tones but they slay for modern rock. Here's a vid of the h2+ in a prs custom 24 into my new killer Kali++.

Im using Scumback speakers (M 75´s).
H2+ would be a good choice for Classic or Hard rock, it would give you more clarity and punch. Would sound great with the M75s'.

Sorry, I meant that the n series Anderson's are spiked in the mids.
