HI All, had m first gig with my new BE100 at the weekend, sound guy said the amp was sounding fantastic.. Although I noticed it's got to be turned up quite loud, a lot more than I'd expect from a 100W head (going through a Bogner OS 2x12 with V30s).. Volume was on 6 (as recommended in the Manual when using the FX loop), FX return level on about 2/3rds. That's not a worry unless it runs out of headroom sometime, but I can't see that happening, It could just be the taper on the volume pots making it seem like it's turned up too high (if you get what I mean, the old marshals I've used seem to get 90% of their volume at about 4 on the volume).

Are others running their amps on similar volume settings? I've also got a Pink Taco and for some reason it just seems Louder than the BE.

Try running it without the loop. There's no lack of volume, it could be the effects used in the loop.

I'll try that, but I don't get any problems with my other heads using the same pedalboad.

Pink Taco louder than a BE? Interesting...

Could be the pot taper?

I've had a bad pre tube in cause this type of issue in a couple different amps.

Yes. I've thought the same. Been gigging mine quite a bit lately. Front volume 6. Hardwire delay in the loop. I have to run the loop volume at 2 - 3:00 for proper stage volume. Haven't worried about it, cause at 3:00 it's plenty loud. It's very quiet until around 1:00.

Yes. One of my other amps behaved EXACTLY like that. Volume seemed really ineffective til I got past noon-1:00. Changed V1 and back to normal. That'd be my bet.

Tube issue likely ... I run mine at 2 (9 o'clock) and it's already ripping heads off even through a 2x12.

Is that while using the loop? with the master on 5-6 and using the FX return as the volume?

Don't use the loop ... did try it once and with master at 5-6 (noon-ish) the FX return didn't need to be past 9-10 o'clock.

PS ... do you have the SAT switch ON? It does lower the overall volume once engaged.

This is my experience with the BE-100 as well. When you use the loop (and set the master to around 6, as per the instructions), you really need to crank the return level to get it loud.

It is way louder if you don't use the loop.

My Loop needs to be at almost 3/4 to match the volume without it on. IT's a LOUD amp no volume issues for sure.

The loop dosn't make it quieter. Let say your front master is on 5, with the loop engaged to get unity gain you would set the retun level at 3/4 of the way up or 3 o'clock give or take a bit. I reduced the return gain just a bit to keep the noise floor down. Been thinking about getting rid of the back master as not to have these discussions.

This is how I do it.

Take the knob off.

As a suggestion, ensure that if you have a single master volume, that engaging the loop does not have any effect on the amp overall volume.
