My EVH 50 watt was sold yesterday now i have the coin for a pleximan,MK V 25,freidman PT20 or something very similar.
I want a really well built tube amp for low volume playing that is reminiscent of a old modded marshall.
going for the old VH tone primarily but would also like higher gain tones for Metal lead and rhythm tones.
judas priest,maiden,arch enemy,etc.
All the YT tube clips of this head sound killer but i am not willing to gamble $1300 on a YT vid :D
have a splawn 2x12 vertical cab with creamback 65m's to use with it.

Well the MKV25 is incredibly versatile. But it's real easy to make it sound awful. If you love tweaking, go with that. THere's some killer tones in there.

for overall tone i love the freidman but was reading it really does not work well at low volumes?
The mesa 25 i can get for $1300 shipped new.

I can vouch that the Mesa DOES in fact sound very good at low volumes. In fact, I'd say it sounds its best at low volumes.
It covers A LOT of ground. I made 53 profiles of that thing LOL :D

   yeah and i cant get it new for $1300 shipped so IF i was not happy with it
i would have 30 days to return it and just be out the shipping.
The mesa is the safest bet of the 3 since the other two are used,

I would tend to agree...

Also, there are tons of great demo videos with settings for Mini Mark. Check them out. I had trouble dialing it in when I first got it. Shredder and I dubbed it the "Box of Fuck!" because it was hard to dial in with your eyes

"Box of Fuck"  So just use your ears and close your eyes when tweaking it? :D

Yes... HAHAHA!
Close your eyes and start from the gain and work your way towards the EQ. No joke Ola had a video where he ran gain and treble on 10 and mids and bass on 0 with Graphic EQ engaged and it sounds evil as fuck. Who would think to dial an amp in like that? Not me!

found this  real low volume

Yep... It does kick butt... but it's a tweaker.

Is it just me, or are those extreme changes in knob position doing absolutely nothing?

They have less effect on the sound depending on how much of the previous control is dialed in. So if you dial back the treble, the mids will have a greater impact. Yes... It's fucky... But there's endless tweaking, if you're into that sort of thing. Just that crunch channel alone.. I spend days on it.

That's ok bro. You're still my bro.. AHAHAHAHAH!

Meh. They may have great tones in them, but their layout and design choices are fucky. I think half the shit on that trem o verb was some kind of accident. "When you're on this channel in this mode the presence from BOTH channels affects the sound! Cool, right?" The fuck is that? ? Lol No. It's not cool lol

Yes. I know how their eq works. And I basically hate it lol

YES! The whole "The presence on the Orange Channel affects the Red Channel when in Modern Mode" thing is an OOPPPS! It's a "Feature".

TBH if i was sure the pink taco would sound great at TV volumes i would just get one of those.
I have loved freidman's amps since day one but have not been able to afford one
Most seem to say the PT20 has to be turned up to sound good?
