I’m not too familiar with Buckethead, but is this normally what his tone sounds like?
Maybe it’s just this recording then because this isn’t my opinion of good toneHe was using those heads with a midiverb a few years ago when I saw him and he was getting the best tones from clean to scream that I’ve heard live

Saw him live quite a few years ago. He sounded absolutely killer. The man is a master. Pretty sure the amp is not as important as the player
100%.i was gonna say, maybe my tone judgements were skewed due to his unbelievable playing, i think he might be the greatest all around guitar player ever
I could never get into him. How has he managed to go this long without any real photos posted of his face?!
He hails from my area and I have several friends that went to high school with him plus he received lessons at a local "mom and pop" store from a guitar teacher that helped some other friends get to this level.
He ended up becoming a guitar teacher there as well.
I remember him from his early days in a band called "The Deli Creeps" where they would dress up a little bit on stage as part of their show.
BH would wear a Michael Myers mask (or a Jason mask) and the singer would wear a bloody butcher's apron and the other members would dress similarly.
Their sound was really weird
I think that I might still have their cassette demo somewhere at home.
I did respect his lead playing.
He would tap out pretty much most of his scales at a very quick rate.
There was a guy that tried out for my old band Epitaph and he was pretty far away from our style and even our sound and especially our personalities.
I had come across him several years later after BH had given him lessons and he had improved a lot and was even mimicking BH's signature lead riffs.
Another friend of mine sends me text messages with various songs of BH's and they seem to range in styles.
I had lived in Claremont for several years (about 4 blocks away from where he was giving guitar lessons) and not too far away from Oxford Avenue.Yep he lived about 10 mins from me in Claremont.
The house he lived in on Oxford was up for sale a few years back. You can see the interior of it in some of his videos.
Deli Creeps also has great songs.
Styles Music at Foothill/ Towne, right?I had lived in Claremont for several years (about 4 blocks away from where he was giving guitar lessons) and not too far away from Oxford Avenue.
I think that I'll have to look around for that Deli Creeps demo since this talk is bringing back some memories.
The Deli Creeps shows were at the Scream in Pomona.
Yeah, the local mom and pop storeStyles Music at Foothill/ Towne, right?
